Biography
SILVIA
She/Her | Mortician
Silvia’s clanmates sometimes jest that she is as stiff and silent as the bodies she tends to. She normally replies with a light chuckle, for even she can admit the remarks aren’t too far off. She has never been one for much conversation. She keeps to a small friend group, the few she feels most comfortable around.
Most of Silvia’s time is dedicated to her work. She is the Drakewoods’ mortician. She tends to her fallen clan mates, performing the proper funeral rites and caring for the Andskov, the clans burial grounds. She likes to keep herself busy, even when the morgue is empty she finds chores to do. The guardian has never felt uneasy around corpses. To her they’re often easier to be around than other dragons, after all, the bodies don’t talk. She knows just how important her role is and takes great pride in it.
Though she doesn’t hail from the Viridian Labyrinth she feels deeply connected to the Gladekeeper and her element. Her mentor had been a nature dragon and the two had openly spoken about the region and it’s various rituals. Silvia keeps a few aromatic potted plants in her den and her workplace, another small tribute to her chosen life. She is as meticulous with their care as she is with all her tasks, so naturally they do quite well. Prone to sleepless nights, she often abandons her stuffy den for the clans woods. The silence comforts her, and her walks make her feel closer to her chosen deity. Recently her walks have become more frequent and she has returned with mud on her scales. Like many aspects of Silvia, the source is a mystery to her clan mates.
An Andskov is a traditional nature burial ground. Following the beliefs of nature clans the bodies of dead dragons are buried under trees, their physical body feeds the plant, and they also believe their soul also returns to the earth and gives life to the surrounding area. Andskovs of ancient dwellings often become vast forests, the branches of the various trees decorated with offerings from the desceased’s beloved.
Death is seen as natural and necessary to the Gladekeeper’s followers. Nature dragons believe that the massive numbers of death caused by the first great death is what allowed for the Gladekeeper and life to be born. The souls of all the deceased pooled together to form the goddess, a being of pure life energy. According to nature religion there is a limited amount of life energy on Sornieth. When a living being dies their energy is returned to the soil where it can be reused to spring forth new life. As long as things continue to live and die, things will remain in order.
