My regions ratings

1. Kanto [★★★★★]
The first region, the beginning of an era, the start of it all. Kanto is my second favorite region and my favorite area to replay and discover more of every time. Out of all the pokemon in the series, generation one is by far full of my top favorites and it deserves every star it gets. Any long time fan of the series would understand the appeal of everything in this region down to lore, gym leaders, unique atmosphere, and the most interesting main characters.

2. Johto [★★☆☆☆]
The second region in the pokemon series, Johto, left me wanting more. Usually this is a good thing but in this case it was very underwhelming the amount of new pokemon and region we got to explore. Everything felt fairly small and generation two offered the least amount of new pokemon to date. Every generation two game has generation one attached to it to add more depth and I believe that was a necessary choice for what little it added to the series.

3. Hoenn [★★★★★]
The third region really picked up where generation two lacked. There were plenty of new and interesting pokemon, the introduction of two separate villainous teams, and so many unique places to explore. Each place seemed to offer a new world and new quirks to spend end game time on. This generation was the start of contests, berries, weather cycles, the battle frontier, and it implemented everything so perfectly that despite my distaste for remakes, I pre-ordered omega ruby and alpha sapphire. Long live my favorite region in all of pokemon.

4. Sinnoh [★★★★☆]
The fourth region didn't add as much to the series as generation three did. In fact it didn't add much at all apart from its saving grace, its great new pokemon. I've loved replaying this generation along with the third even to today. The regions are still wonderful and the story becomes the main focus of this game. I'm interested in every twist and turn that happens and the region offered a wonderful underground multiplayer that I played for hours when I was a kid. It's wonderful nostalgic value hasn't gone away at all.

5. Unova [★★☆☆☆]
For a long time the fifth region was my least favorite in the pokemon series. The new pokemon additions left much to be desired, the graphics didn't look any good to me, the areas to explore were big and boring. There were even plenty of easter eggs that I wanted to discover and understand that ultimately lead to nothing and wasted my time. The only saving grace of this generation was its interesting take on pokemon philosophy, a neat plot twist, and the games black and white 2. Though black and white had an interesting story, it definitely dragged its feet unlike 2 where it offered a strange nostalgia in that everyone spoke of the hero in black and white and how great they had been. This made me think about how every generation must have felt and did make me plenty happy. For that, this isn't the worst region in the series.

6. Kalos [★★★☆☆]
The sixth region of the pokemon series took a familiar formula and tweaked it just a little bit. Changing the experience share was absolutely wonderful and though I'd say it made things much easier, along with the opponents being much weaker and catch rates being way too high, I enjoyed finally having a full team of six pokemon without taking weeks to grind them all out. This made the game so worth my time, in fact at the moment, kalos and the generation 3 remakes are among my most replayed generations for the ease of training. Though the pokemon of this generation weren't very stellar and the region isn't very pretty, the main city in the center is far too large and confusing, I still enjoyed my time playing and getting more familiar with having so many friends/rivals this game was able to offer.

7. Alola [★☆☆☆☆]
A big congratulations to the seventh region of pokemon for boring me so much with tedious unskippable cutscenes that it caused me to take a long break from pokemon altogether. I can't explain every reason this generation is so bad but I'll do my best. There are no gyms, no bicycles, there are so many cutscenes it's nauseating, the new pokemon weren't that great looking, you had to google how to evolve some of the pokemon because the requirements were so ridiculous which spoiled the evolution for people like me who don't want the pokedex spoiled ahead of the game's release, there were very few new pokemon released compared to most other generations, there were no fossil pokemon, and I was not able to finish the game within a few days like I have for every other pokemon game when it first came out. It took me two weeks to find the attention span to play this game fully. It's so boring and the story isn't interesting in the slightest. I couldn't have expected any worst until ultra sun and ultra moon came out which instead of being a very different game in the same region like black and white 2, it was the exact same game except slight changes in the trials and the ending. I was disgusted. I don't recommend anybody play this generation.

I refuse to rank or accept galar as a part of my pokemon journey.
