I am a very silent dragon, which helps as I am a spy. Us spies can't announce our arrival, we don't have that luxury. We have to make every movement be unnoticed. As I was born under the influence of the Shadowbinder, I am better than some at making the shadows my own.
Some think that because I am so silent that I am lacking in some areas. They think that silence means I don't understand other dragons as much...but if I didn't understand dragons, why would I be a spy? You need to understand what you're spying on, for Shade's sake! I do care deeply, and strongly, for other dragons. Right now the dragon I felt deeply for was FernFly's welfare. It seemed a recent mission had left her somewhat...more down than usual. A peacekeeper to the core, she deserved every bit of peace she could get. Always right there to try and calm a situation down, I knew that in my old clan she would be chosen as a diplomat. My old clan...I hardly remembered it. It was almost like it was a faraway dream. A dream more distant than the farthest star that I could see in the night sky. Farther than I had to fly for any of my spying missions... ...but I remembered it all the same. Faces and names were just a blur. They were real, though, and I had opinions about them. One with Light eyes who was anything other than kind. A Tundra who wasn't that smart, but was still competent enough to be second in command. Did I miss them? I didn't know. Remembering my mother I saw kind eyes. Kind eyes that could tell just what was needed to cure any ailment. And while her eyes were kind, they were also scared. Always on alert. Always worried. But she was strong. Maybe that same strength had been passed down onto me. Or maybe that was wishful thinking. I could recall my father distantly. His ability to read minds, or maybe that had been what my hatchling mind had translated it to, made his habit of being a people pleaser so much worse. In any case, he was also a great healer. Maybe it was how I was trying to think about my parents and my former clan, I don't know. All I know is after thinking about them for a little bit I was able to think about what to do for FernFly. If I brought something back to her from my next mission, then maybe I could cheer her up. As a spy I had to go to places far outside my clan and so I am able to find strange things. Exotic things. Things you could wear or use to show others that you were worth something. It was only the surface level, true, but it was also at a level that made others feel good about themselves. I know I was excited when I found trinkets that others found worthless. by jashykins |
