Flossy is a pure child. When she was still in her egg, the nest broke, and her egg dropped. No one knew she had fallen, not until the next day when the clan warden checked on her, so she grew cold and damaged. When she was born she was different. With black eyes and stunted legs she slithered instead of walked. She bumped into things and bruised easily. And when she spoke, she spoke of apparitions and fantasies. She was a broken child. So when Kafani, on one of her wanderings, found the little dragon for sale, she gave in and bought her, much to Jewel's disgust. In her opinion, Kafani could have spent far less for a broken child but Lira fell in love with the dragon instantly. She named the girl Flossy, after a special nickname, and doted on her like a mother. Flossy grew strong and loved from her new mother's attentions, and soon met two other girls, who took her under their wings. Between Zeona and Celeste, Flossy became able to walk, however crippled, by herself. They supported her when she fell and they guided her when she ran. They loved their strange sister like family, and sleep together in a mess of tails. Flossy is now loved by many, despite her differences. Although it is unsure whether she can breed or not, she will permanently have a place in this clan. Her mai job in the clan consists of cleaning Celeste's eyeglasses and telescope. it's a quiet, simple job, that requires no one knowing of her presence.

Lately Flossy has been acting a little off. Scratches, bleeding cuts and scrapes appear on her body almost daily. Her sisters bind her up again and again, but they are starting to worry. They feed her, and yet Flossy keeps requesting more. She is so hungry. Her scales keep falling off, smelling like rot. They love her, but they're scared.

Flossy is blind, broken, infertile and hungry. Her sisters worry for her, and her doctors stay up at night trying to figure out her ailment. Flossy is dying.

The night was hot and still. The crickets were asleep, the dragons were too. Except Flossy. Something had woken her. Celeste was awake too. She always was, staring at the stars. Flossy dragged herself over to Celeste's stony outcrop. Slowly sliding over the rocks, she felt a sharp stone dig into her side, and her fragile skin give way. Another cut. The pain dully throbbed, but she continued. They will fix it later. Celeste heard the scratching and turned so Flossy could hear her. ""Another nightmare."" Flossy didn't respond, dragging herself over Celeste's tail. ""Did you take your medicine today? Maple told you-"" ""I miss her."" Celeste fell silent, facing the stars again. Flossy finally made herself comfortable at Celeste's cool side. They lay there in silence, Celeste watching the stars, Flossy watching the phantoms at the edge of her failed eyesight. They were putting on a show tonight, one she'd seen before. ""She'll be back my dear. The scouts have told me she's near us, in a canyon to the south. She's getting stronger, just for you, dear. She's training hard, every day, with a team of mercenaries."" ""I don't think I'll get to say goodbye."" A sleepy response, as Flossy began to curl up. Celeste noticed the blood smeared on her side. Another wound hard been opened again, this one worryingly prone to infection. It just wouldn't heal. Maple found a shard of poisonous glass in it last time it was opened. But who would poison Flossy? Celeste furrowed her brow in concentration, before turning back to look at the sky. ""Zeona will be back."" Just, please stay alive long enough for her return, she silently prayed to the stars. They only twinkled in reply.

The world is different now. She woke up amongst her friends, all surrounding her hopefully. Her sisters were there, wrapped around Sahara's hospital, hoping everything was okay. But they were massive now. Everyone was. Where Sahara was only able to wrap her wings around her before, now she towered over. She couldn't even see where Celeste started and ended. She was a fae now, too small to be affected by any plague or curse. The imperial disease would no longer affect her. Her wings were different too. Still tracing the feathers they had on leather skin, they reminded her of the ragged things she couldn't lift. But now they were beautiful. Her fur was replaced with velvet, her mane with frills. She was a smaller, stronger dragon, with proportions all wrong, but she hadn't felt better in years. Afraid to squish her, Zeona crept slowly over to her, only to be gently guided away by Sahara. The world was still too new for guests, and Flossy needed her rest. There was still healing to do.
