Dude. dude. Dude. It's MEDICINAL.
╭
Cress tended to keep himself quiet and away from the public view. If his hobbies were legal, he would be more open, but a the call of money results in him selling his work through another masquaraded merchant. It wasn't that he disliked selling his work, he just didn't want to put his face on it. Lest Frisk found him. It wasn't that his plants were dangerous. They were merely poisonous, toxic, used in paralysis potions, could kill an imperial, cursed among beastclan populations, and sought after by the cruelest and most taboo schools of magic. Sorcerers and necromancers visited his merchant, along with herbwitches, assassins, and innocent fools. He turned no one away, and provided many different types of plants. It was one of the biggest illegal enterprises, and Cress kept it all hidden in his farm, among the many rows of corn and bamboo. He's not just a seller of illegal plants, though. A recent gap in the local coliseum team meant he would step up for the job. He fights well too, earning himself a devout fan who carries his badges. He is hesitant to tell her that he didn't earn all of those badges, the fighter before him did. It doesn't stop her from collecting them avidly. He worries that his newfound fame will reveal his darker secrets, so he keeps to the back of crowds, and doesn't show his face at mealtime. It's worked for him, as only Tengu knows of his true appearence. Tengu doesn't care about his infamy as much. His tricky lover has many tricks and secrets shoved up his feathery sleeves. Cress doesn't care to find out, but appreciates the help of the dark merchant. As long as he keeps his customers happy, and his business out of the hands of Frisk, then he's happy.

There's nothing here, he says. Turn around and head back the way you come from... ....lest you fall into a trap not even your precious mother could rescue you from, child.
