Mornin', landlubber! I bet you thought you could sneak up on me, aye? Nay, there be no sneakin' up on a lad such's meself. Don' look so afraid, though. If I'd have wanted to kill you, I would've already. You've been thumpin' around this ship like you own it. Kholin must not be watchin' the docks if someone like you came aboard... Well, name's Weasel. It ain't permanent but I wanna make a name for myself squarin' off against the crew and landlubbers like you 'fore I go thinkin' up a name I can't uphold, savvy? 'course, the crew got a laugh outta it when I was a cabin boy for the cap'n. Aye, I've been aboard for as long's I can remember. My mother, cap'n Sarahi, sold me to cap'n Firefeather s'long 's I became a cabin boy. I learned a good deal, bein' a cabin boy. One could say I know more 'bout the cap'n then even her first mate! One could say that, but you won't want to and I don't. I wasn't allowed to fight in the ring, 'specially when I was a hatchlin', so I watched from the rigging when I didn't have to wait on the cap'n. It's exciting. I watched dragons, some that ain't workin' with us anymore, win and lose to the point of wailin' their submissions. 'course, this scar didn't come from the ring. See, when I was a cabin boy, I felt I had a certain...loyalty to the cap'n that even the crew didn't have. So, when I heard that Malcinius, a ridgeback that used to work on the ship, was tryin' to start a mutiny, I told the cap'n. She dealt with it, aye, but not 'fore Malcinius found me and tried killin' me. Ecthelion likes remindin' me that I ought have died that day, drownin' in my own blood. I am loyal to the cap'n but I owe a great deal to Lana for savin' my life. So, you could say this scar's what keeps me in the fight. Ain't too many dragons walkin' around with a smile on their throat, savvy? The cap'n started teachin' me to fight after that. She doesn't fight fair, usin' everythin' from her swords to her claws to even her tail. So, I learned how to fight like that and even on land, I've had dragons run away for fear I'll kill 'em in the next swing. Well, I've got to get below deck and finish clearin' out the old beddin' 'fore the cap'n comes aboard. You'd best be off and if we see each other in the next fight, it ain't worth dyin', I'll warn you. Allies

History
Hatched aboard the Bloodwing in the crow's nest alongside his brother, Lionheart. While both hatchlings were destined for the auction house, Captain Sarahi managed to find an alternative for at least one of them when she happened upon another ship looking for crew. So, giving Captain Firefeather pick of the pair, the mirror chose Weasel along with the promise of making him her cabin boy.He was the only dragon on the ship to be hatched on a ship and it's found him much blame and misfortune. Yet, his start was not unlike many a hatchling's start on a pirate ship. He fetched food, shadowed the captain, followed her orders, and proved how loyal he was. Yet, at the young age the captain expected much of him, some might say too much. He was clumsy and when he rushed he often tripped over his own feet or tail. When he was required to send messages by word of mouth to dragons on land and others on the ship, he occasionally forgot some of the vital words and even caused an error in the purchase of food. The dragons were forced to eat a mixture of plants and bugs during one voyage. Yet, when Weasel overheard a former sailor, Malcinius, planning a mutiny with a small collection of the crew, he tried to return to the captain and inform her. His chance was lost when Malcinius spotted him listening and promptly tried to rid the dragon of his life by cutting his neck. Weasel spent several days under Lana's care but once he was well enough to speak, he informed the captain of Malcinius' intentions. After that, Firefeather chose to start teaching the lad how to fight 'like a pirate'. The former wound left a jagged scar and she frequently informed him it was a good reminder to stay on his feet. She brought him along when she had to deal with expenses and shadier dealings at port. His socially adaptable nature had a habit of putting other dragons in a better mood. Weasel's rank of 'cabin boy' left him when he started fighting in the ring. Once the captain heard word of it along with how he'd promptly tossed Lucy over the side of the ship, she stripped him of the title and told him to get back to work. While the imperial is on relatively neutral terms with nearly every dragon aboard, he works well with Adeiryl and Lucy. Weasel remains loyal to the captain and goes so far as to defend her name even when she isn't around. When he isn't socializing or working, he's found interest in books of all kinds and the knowledge they have to offer. He enjoys reading at the bow of the ship. |
