Hah! I was thinkin' how well-informed these land-dragons mus' be 'till you showed up. I mean, lookit you! Smooth scales, soft claws, you're the pride of a wealthy clan and the bait of a weathered ship, I'll say.
Well, if you came for a tour, you ain't gettin' one, plain and simple. Nobody'll tell you why but here's a tidbit for you: Treasure ain't all a pirate's known for. Aye, we've got treasure, gems, and more stolen eggs than I've got claws but rumor's got it the ship's haunted. See, someone's been hidin' skulls but not just any! Someone's been hidin' dragon skulls. You don't bring back the life you take, cap'ns orders. We keep findin' 'em tucked away in our nests all fresh'n bloodied. So it's no s'prise the ship's haunted! I bet my feathers Kholin's been doin' it. Blighter likes fightin' and he really likes killin'. O'course if that don't scare you, then the smell will, hah! Rottin' skulls and whatever else we keep... After all, it's no big secret Plague dragons like dead things and I broke the lock on Dreyon's chest, which you don't say a word of. He's got chipped bones, black bones, and I found an old broken skull of some sorta fish, not to mention his pearl. See, we all keep our valuables, some wear 'em, some hide 'em. I'll brag that I don't have any 'cept for this patch. Lost my eye in a fight but I won more'n half my sense in return! It ain't a life for everyone though. Gotta live by the code but for the adventure, I'd give up land any day. Allies

History
Hatched alongside her brother in the clan of Heat and Clockwork, she quickly learned she had a lesser place in the clan. While stronger than her brother, both were destined to be displayed to potential buyers. As the days passed with only glances towards them, Heike would slip away to steal food from the clan's stores when she felt they weren't given enough to eat. Often times, they filled the gap of time by sparring and when she was old enough to work for the clan among the forges, they took her at certain times of the day to serve as a go-between.Her temper often got the better of her, sometimes to protect her brother against some of the demands of the other clanmates, including the heir to the clan leader. It nearly cost her claws when she threatened the dragon for a snide remark so she left one early morning to seek out her own fate. It ended up on the docks of the auction house where she sold herself to the Black Firebird, leaving her more even-tempered brother at the mercy of the clan. From the beginning, she proved to be loyal to the captain, following every order without question so long as it took her away from her clan. While much of the crew that was hired on enjoyed the torment and torture of other dragons, Heike took a more back-to-the-roots interest in working with metals. When dragons plundered treasures and trinkets, she found ore stashed away and took a special delight in pillaging Fire clans. The loyalty to her captain backfired on her once when she defended the mirror after they'd made port. With no fellow sailors to defend her after she'd made the first attack, the wildclaw was mauled and tossed back on the dock where the ship was, her eye gouged out, and a digit missing from her right foreclaw. Heike took to the public forges when the ship made port afterwards to hone her skills and avoid the local rabble. There, she forged her own blade and crossed paths with an overly perceptive ridgeback. Throughout the visits that followed, she immediately made way for the forges, if only to converse with the ridgeback without getting any work done but his encouragement found her smelting ore and refining her techniques constantly. When he "borrowed" much of her metals without asking, Heike returned to confront him until he presented her with a set of steampunk wings. Their bond has been strengthening since but the wildclaw doesn't ignore the call of wanderlust nor her loyalty to the ship and captain. While many of the crew tell tales of their fights, and pillages, Heike returns to the islands they set claw on and has a knack for describing them for even the most blind of dragons. She's never once looked back upon her birth clan and will rarely be heard reminiscing about dragons she's crossed. She doesn't get along with most of the more ignorant and cocky crew and has often come close to crossing swords with them. |
