I’ve never been one for walking, but after taking a magic blast to the wing, I’ve had to learn how to use my own four feet. The job was supposed to be simple: find evidence of a cheating spouse. Very cut and dry, I worked these cases more often than not. But this case was special in a way I’d never dreamed of. The husband wanted me to doctor dirt on his stunning wife, and the closer I got to the truth of the situation, the more desperate and violent he became. The wife Lelune was planning to run, and so I helped her escape, planting evidence framing the husband instead. That day, I lost my wing, and life has been gloomy and gray ever since.

But it was all worth it. I would not force a woman to stay with a terrible spouse, if the scars on her shoulder were any indication. I set her up with a local hotel run by an old friend who owed me a favor. I covered her tracks, and she got away safely. I, however, was a turtle in the middle of the road, and was attacked in my own home by a merc the perp had hired. I was a liability to his reputation. I took the injury and fled. I don’t work for hire anymore. Some days, I wonder what would happen if I sought out that husband and ended him like he tried to end us. Then I look at my hands and realize that if I did that, my hands would no longer be clean.
