B I O G R A P H Y

Everyone was surprised when the dragon Milan appointed as librarian was a spiral. Not solely because she had a lot of energy, but because her attention span was so small she instantly forgot everything anyone told her. This behavior was common in tundras. There was a fair number of spirals who couldn’t remember much as well, and Sveta just so happened to be one of these spirals. It did not make spirals look much more desirable as mates and friends when this trait surfaced in young hatchlings.

By the time Sveta found her way to Skyloft, almost all of the important jobs had been taken. The clan was not in need of any more cooks, tailors, or technological advancement. Luckily, Sveta wasn’t very good at any of those tasks, so Milan placed her in charge of a library. Milan had acquired many books as treasure from converting treasure. She set Sveta in charge of categorizing them and shelving them in a cave Zahhak erected for her.

Since starting, Sveta has only successfully categorized one shelf. She also loaned out many of the books, and for some reason the library always kept shrinking. Milan often came to visit and tried to get Sveta back on task, to no avail. She wondered why she bothered with the pink spiral at all. Sveta was essentially giving the books away, or they were being stolen and she was just too floaty to notice. To console herself about losing the books in the library, she always reminded herself that at least it’d be easier to transport fewer books.

_The Book Cave_

____Zahhak didn’t have much to do after raising Loretta’s teaching cave, so Milan employed him to raise one for Sveta’s library, too. Every time Skyloft moved, the cave changed shape. Shelves were taken away and added, and the extra room where Sveta stayed changed location each time; it was exhausting for Zahhak. Thankfully, Milan allowed him a free meal at the Bamboolean and a free drink at the Collapsible Tavern once his work was done.

The cave had lots of windows punctured through the earth, allowing lots of light to read by. Some circular platforms were erected from the floor as reading tables, surrounded by plush purple, green, and gold pillows for dragons to recline on. Though the selection of books was slowly shrinking, there was a very wide variety of materials to leaf through. It would still take at least a month to pore through everything.

_On the Record_

____One section of the library was saved specifically for Skyloft’s records, financial and genealogical. No one, not the least of which included Sveta, was not allowed to touch these. In fact, Zahhak had created a room in the cave specifically for the records that was enchanted to only open for Milan and Brooklian. One or both of them could often be seen scooting into the cave to update the records, sometimes not resurfacing for hours at a time.

Most of the records were boring and innocent, consisting of inventories, transactions, Yanira’s predictions, and moving dates and locations. There were some, however, that betrayed the innocence of the rest. These few were books kept on Little Bolt and Big Buff Bodyguard’s bets, wins, and losses. They were used to help predict how a season would go for the fighting duo. So far, there were many more wins than losses, which bode well for the clan.
