I chose Gyph (now Dawntreader) from LarkoftheRiver (now AesSedai) for free when I joined because I was dazzled by his colors. He may have been the very first dragon I picked out, but he was definitely the Pearlcatcher that started my obsession with Pearls.

His colors and genes (Tiger and Smoke) made him difficult to breed, but I kept trying for over two years. I tried every new gene on him in every combination until finally Opal was perfect. Skink hints at the shade of his wings, but one day I might switch him to Petals.

I couldn't have found a more perfect mate for him, and I'm grateful to Cassini for responding to my inquiry to rehome her. :)

Dawntreader is named for a ship in the Chronicles of Narnia series which I have loved since childhood. Though I didn't know it at the time, the Deep Magic" set the stage for the profound faith I discovered later. It seems to me that the Opal represents that Deep Magic breaking through it's mortal vessel to spread light and life.
