Brilliant Tactician, Loving Mother, Brave and Just Queen of the People
Eternally to be Missed
"To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour..."

______ The Late Queen Pearl, first of her name, crowned Queen of the Akashaa, First Queen and Mother to us All. She was a just and fair ruler, the ideal monarch for the growing clan. The late Queen did all in her power to protect her people, her family- her Children.

______ Pearl was born in the Scarred Wasteland, and grew up there before moving to live with a group of Pearlcatchers, where she met lifetime friends Natalie and Dunya, whom would later become her chief advisors. As a blunt and aggressive woman, she hardly fit in with the group, and attempted to leave. Upon being refused, Pearl launched an assault, which allowed her and a group of rebels to break free and start their own rogue band. In the battle, Pearl contracted malign Gembond, which would plague her into her later life and lead to her death in time.

______ From there, the band of Pearlcatchers whittled off, most returning home. Ultimately, Pearl, Dunya, and Natalie remained together. In an attempt to make a home for themselves, they sold odds and ends at bazaars and trading posts that they gathered. They met Theodore, whom took the little mismatched trio as his Charge. From there, he led them across the world, where fate had them running into Nymphadora, leader of the Akashaa at the time, and Levitas. They took in the rogue band, moving them to the Starfall Isles in 363 DT.
______ In 365, Nymphadora became overwhelmed by the rapid growth of the clan and gave power to Pearl, feeling she'd be the most capable to lead. The people agreed, though a bit reluctantly. To smooth some tension, Pearl offered to arrange an alliance through marriage.
______ Pearl began being courted by Czar Simon, a young and handsome monarch of Penumbra Clan. They wed, and Pearl was soon expecting her first clutch within the year. She lived with him throughout the pregnancy, where the charming king began to turn into a malevolent tyrant.
______ Simon became obsessed with "curing" Pearl's disease. He urged any and all doctors to attempt to treat her, employing any means necessary, including attempting to pry the gems off of her. They had reigned to separate rooms when Pearl laid- she had given the czar three perfect, healthy eggs. She decided to stay through their hatching, then take her own heir home- she'd been absent from the clan for nearly a year, leaving Nymphdora in charge once again. The Akashaa grew anxious for their queen to return, and the czar grew disturbingly abusive to Pearl- locking her in her room, strapping her down and attempting to cure her, and isolating her. The abuse came to a crescendo when the czar dropped one of the eggs off a cliff as they began to hatch, effectively forcing Pearl to stay until the remaining hatchlings emerged.
______ Pearl never told her two eldest children about the child she'd lost- it was only revealed after her death in the letters she'd composed at her daughter's request, detailing her life story to be outlined here. The egg that the czar had killed was to be named Nightcloud, the heir that was never allowed to be.
______ By 375 DT, Pearl fled Penumbra, taking her daughter Opal with her back to the Starfall Isles, ultimately being forced to leave her eldest, Bee with his father. When she returned, the Akashaa was in disarray- Nymphadora admitted to being too young to be capable of leading, though Pearl always stated the growth of the clan had made them reckless with loose loyalty. To protect her clan and her daughter, Pearl decided to move to the Sunbeam Ruins, which lay an entire continent away.
______ It's been said her decision to move to the Ruins was highly controversial- after all, the dragon she was attempting to avoid would be in the territory right to their flank. Many dragons did not follow her to the Ruins- those who did stated it was her first act as the Queen, and not just the queen.
______ The Akashaa came to settle into an area dubbed the Sunbleached Cliffs- they had a high Wind population whom wished to be somewhere with a breeze, and were granted the perfect area by the sea, just off the edge of the Hewn City. With the move and the group now a little band of worn travelers, Pearl settled in, ordering refurbishing of the massive, cobwebbed palaces and buildings that littered their territory. After they'd eked out a shelter and made it a home, Pearl began to formally structure the government.
______ She established a constitutional monarchy with a bicameral legislature, putting the leading of the people in the hands of the people through her Council of Representatives, which contained delegates from each Flight. The Council was a means for the commonfolk to present issues and solutions, and was put in charge of establishing and enforcing laws and taxes. The second part of her government was dubbed the Royal Family, which at the time was her and her seven year old daughter, Opal. The monarch would be in charge of foreign affairs, including wars and alliances. Afterwards, she established the Royal Guard to protect the Council and the Family, then the Aerial Corps to enforce laws and protect the clan.
______ Satisfied with her work, Pearl did little government work and established a connection with the people. She made alliances opened to Flightwide Bazaars, allowing trades and craftspeople of her clan to sell their wares. This began a period of grand growth, the clan growing to ninety strong. Now queen of a flourishing clan, Pearl forged alliances and trained her daughter Opal to be an heir.
______ In the twenty years since Pearl had left her estranged husband, Gembond had taken it's toll on her body- she'd grown stiff and fatigued. Though, in 381 DT, Pearl had an affair with an unnamed male, which resulted in the birth of two illegitimate boys, Alabaster and Ivory. Alabaster was sent to live with his elder brother Bee in an attempt to hide him beneath Simon's nose. He was posed as Bee's son, though still a child out of wedlock, Alabaster was safe in Penumbra. Ivory remained in the Ruins to be trained by his mother and sister. The clan encountered drastic crisis when the Emperor attacked. Princess Opal joined in the fight, now twenty one, and made her first wave with the people. She saved the lives of the healers, earning the nickname Warrior Princess, which she continues to carry.
______ Penumbra and the Akashaa resumed an unsteady alliance until 394 DT, when Pearl received an anonymous letter (at the time- the writer would later come forward to be one of the dragons seeking help and later Princess Opal's mate, Asphodel) that alerted her that her estranged husband had been keeping a number of mistresses, or rather, had imprisoned and tortured a group of dragonesses, who sought help from the one place they felt they could find it. Opal was sent to confirm the rumors, and upon a positive report, Penumbra and the Akashaa launched into war upon the Assault on the Keep, when Simon sieged the Royal Palace and forced his way into the queen's room, forcibly impregnating her before being removed by Pearl's Royal Guard and the Aerial Corps, who drove the czar and his war party back to the Tangled Wood.
______ The war was called "the War of Chiaroscuro" by history recorders, and lasted until 397 DT. Simon's seed had taken, and a very weak Pearl delivered another three eggs, which where obsessively prayed for by the priest to strengthen them. Upon their hatching, Pearl asked her allies for safe places to hide the children- the eldest to the north in the Viridian Labyrinth, the middle, her only Imperial child, to the west in the Starfall Isles, and the youngest, her final daughter, to the south in the Southern Icefields. Unfortunately, her eldest had a corrupt transporter, who delivered him to his father. The prince was reportedly slain by his father. The Imperial was transported by the fleetest courier in the Akashaa, whom met his demise at the talons of one of Penumbra's soldiers to deliver the heir to the king. Only the daughter found her way to safety.
______ When the information that Simon had the two princes was delivered to the Queen, her daughter Opal immediately flew off in the night. The war ended when she met her father in his palace and slayed him.
______ After the czar's death, Penumbra and the Akashaa agreed to resume the alliance. Queen Pearl lived a few months in peace surrounded by her children- Bee and Alabaster temporarily stayed with their mother in the Ruins upon sister Opal's premonition, which turned out to be true. In 397 DT, Queen Pearl succumbed to Gembond during the परिपक्वता की उड़ान, or the Flight of Maturity, with her two illegitimate sons, Alabaster and Ivory, plunging into the sea.
