Even though she only was a diminutive Fae that was gifted in the arcane arts, in order to survive she had to learn how to fight with her claws, since learning the magical arcane arts would have taken too much time. Somnium used all the magical energies she could muster from the surrounding Crystalspine's spires/reaches and Starwood's trees and so she managed to grew in size, growing almost as large as the young Guardian, Excubitorem, that accompanied her on her journey. After this event the Nocturne named Stardust teached her how to fight and later on, once she was ready, he also introduced her to the teachings of the Arcanist, his former mentor.

some dragons develop their genes gradually as they grow older, often befitting of their personality, or maybe some justhave them magically appear once they reach their true potential

The flight would probably be somewhat close to Arcane's lore if the new flight is based on my Clan's lore. The new flight would be the Dream Flight and their deity, i.e. Somnium, my clan's leader, would probably be referred to as The Dreamkeeper:

14084791.png

My clan's lore and the new flight's lore would revolve around dream magic and walking the ethereal planes between dreams and reality. Their goal would be to create a utopia where everyone's dream can become a reality and all sentient beings can live in unity and harmony.

Hm... since Arcanites are called dreamers in lore, I suppose this flight's members would have to be called something other than dreamers, maybe dreamseekers, sleepwalkers or oneiromancers.

Their most prized possessions would be magical trinkets, keys, celestial objects like moon rocks and obejcts related to dreams or creatures that can control dreams, like these familiars' tusks:

Dreameater Dreameater Tusk Baku Baku Tusk

Other items they would appreciate are books and mechanical objects they can use to build a dream world simulator, 'cause if they don't succeed in creating a utopia thanks to premonitory dream magic and the like, they will literally create a utopian virtual world for themselves.

I suppose their territory would be filled with clouds, magical crystals and an almost perpetual starry night sky would be overlooking them thanks to magic. There would also be a lot of magitek gadgets hidden from prying eyes in cavern-like systems where some of the flight's top secret activities and planning takes place.

Their colour-scheme would be... hm... probably cold purple colours, Crystal Pools themed or sunset and dusk coloured. To give you an idea, these are my clan's gorgeous custom icons made by osiem:

aeepzid.pngPRKB1Nv.pngOp9u1i0.png

The Flight's colour theme would probably resemble the bluish purple icon's colours and their flight symbol would be something inspired by those icons. I would definitely include the key in their flight's emblem and it would symbolize that they have the key to open the doors to the dream world. :) Either that or something similar to this icon, I'm not 100% sure:

48S2nEd.png?1.png

Hm... what more, oh, right, the Spirit of Dreams would either be an owl or a cat. If mythological creatures are allowed, it would be some sort of gryphon or sphinx, a hybrid between an owl and a cat with an ethereal cloud-like body. Forever ago I thought about designing a mascot for Arcane, but I never finished it. I have thought about repurposing the design as my clan's mascot or in this case, as the new flight's spirit familiar. These drawings are old and messy, but you get the idea:

God. I love your lore! That was a fun read and made me smile. Those custom items are fantastic! I'd vote for you to be a deity lair!

Thank you for the lovely compliments! ;D Also, my clan's leader, Somnium, appreciates that you like her efforts to create a utopian world for everyone to live in and she would gladly have your clan be one of the first clans to join us in creating a new Flight! :)

Day 5:
Does your lair/lore have any holidays? Any fun traditions? Do you have your dragons believe in a dragon version of Santa?

(Oops, this ended up being more about my clan's diplomacy and dominance strategies and not so much about holiday traditions, but whatever, I had fun writing it! /haha)

Since my clan's lore revolves around creating a dream world where everyone can live in unity, they spend a lot of time celebrating other flight's festivals, although they do not really have their own holidays. It would be nice if they had their own fun traditions, so I think that might be something I'll have to keep in mind when I further develop my clan's lore.

The one tradition I've already thought about and that I'm pretty sure I'll include in their lore is that they bestow the clanmates that have achieved their true potential with honorific names related to their achievements and/or personality. That tradition applies to those that weren't born in the clan, so they might also use some type of oneiromancy to figure out which would be the most fitting names for those that are born in the clan.

As far as fun traditions and celebrations goes, my clan has a lot of diplomats and ambassadors that are regularly sent out to discuss political matters with other flights' representatives and also to simply further develop good alliances with other flights. That might not seem very fun at first glance, but when some diplomats and high-ranking dragons are invited to attend events organized by the socialites of different flights its normal for them to take with them some of their clanmates.

Their clanmates can use those opportunities to participate in the many fun events the celebrating flights have organized and it would actually be considered extremely rude and a provocation to not go to these events and enjoy the celebrations. They also use those celebratory occasions to carry out surveillance and infiltration missions in other flights' territories, but only if its absolutely necessary to the clan's goals or to help Arcane in their conquest for dominance.

The clan lies in Arcane's territory, so they also spend a lot of time helping their flight mates organizing Starfall Celebration and many other events around the isles. They are always supplying the Flight with monetary, physical and intellectual resources. It is in their best interest to further relations with other flights so that they always have allies that are willing to help them when Arcane fights for dominance. Of course, this might seem counter-intuitive for a clan that want to create a utopia where all sentient beings can live in peace, but if they are to succeed in that purpose they must try to achieve that goal through multiple ways instead of only focusing on diplomacy.

War is rampant in Sornieth and since dragons depend on elemental magic to survive, its only normal for them to live in a flight's territory and help just that flight with their war efforts. After all, they do not want their clan's territory to be taken from them by Arcane's enemies. They must have a secure place to further their studies in dream magic. Arcane magic also happen to match dream magic pretty well, so I don't think they will be moving from Arcane any time soon, or at all for that matter.

Bonus Question: Would you rather have shops ran by some of the beastclans or would you rather have quests you can complete for some of the more sentient familiar beings in Sorneith in exchange for lore, goods, and currency?

Oh man, both of those options would be awesome, but if we are only allowed to choose one of them, then I have to go with the Beastclans quests! There are so many interesting quests and storylines that could be told if Beastclans quests were implemented. I would love to collaborate with the Beastclans in-game and not only maintain good relations with them in my lore. :)

Day 6:

Let's merge RL with Sornieth. What would you do if a dragon from flight rising escaped from Sornieth, and into your home town? Are you going to try to help it find it's way back? Are you going to....train (huehuehue)....your dragon and keep it around? Hide it? I like going into depth with these funny scenarios. Honestly, could you imagine if one of your dragons was in your living room? LOL. Would your answer change depending on if it was a fae vs a mirror? Just assume you have the resources to pay for food and household structural damage if you decided to let the dragon stay.

Well, my reaction and consequent handling of the situation would very much depend on how intelligent dragons are. Canonically we have dragons that can live and work together and emote very well at the Trading Post, e.g. Swipp's children are unusually expressive if compared to how fae are described in their encyclopedia entry.

Dragons are, according to official lore, pretty much war machines that do their deity's bidding and I don't think such a creature would fare well in our world, even less so if we're talking about dragons that are as big as a small apartment building.

I don't want to keep some sort of Godzilla as a pet, while I recognize it would be very cool, it just wouldn't be right. Dragons belong in Sornieth and I would try my best to send them back to their world.

However, if dragons aren't super big or can change size at will (in my lore they can change size, at least the members of my Clan have learned to use spells to do that) then I might consider keeping that dragon company and allow them to live with me in my home. I would ask the dragon if they want to stay or if they want to go home. If they want to go home to Sornieth, I would help them, if not, I would let them stay and try to become their friend. It would be awesome to have a dragon as a friend! ;D

My biggest concern would be the potential media spectacle that would ensue from having a real dragon living with me. I have zero interest in having hundreds of journalists waiting outside of my home to ask me and the dragon questions. That being said, if this were a normal, wide-spread phenomena and all of the sudden many dragons started to arrive here on Earth, then I suppose people wouldn't bother me and my dragon friend. We would be able to live our lives in peace and quiet and enjoy each other's company. There would be so many cool things to learn about dragons, so hopefully they would get along with me so that we could become best friends. Maybe they would teach me how to travel to Sornieth! I would love that. ;)

Day 37:

How technologically advanced do you think Sornieth is? As much as we are irl (sans a couple of things). Do you think they have running water? Sewage system? Restaurants? Lights?

It probably depends on the area they live in and their respective societies. Some breeds might be feral and not very technologically oriented at all, while others spend their whole lives working with machines.

According to official lore dragons are war machines that do their deities bidding, so probably only Lightning and Arcane dragons are technologically oriented, with the other flights using technology only on occasion or not at all. It wouldn't surprise me if the Nature Flight outright banned technology from their territory.

Restaurants and sewage systems probably exists in at least some parts of each Flight, but once again, it probably depends on the Flight, the clans, their territory, the breeds and sub-species plus their respective customs.

If we stick to my own head canon, it is as I stated at the beginning, some Flights will be more technologically oriented than the others, but in my lore most dragons have pretty elaborated societies, probably very human-like, but mixed in with a touch of sci-fi and fantasy elements.

My dragons use technology a lot, they even build spacecrafts that works thanks to magitek! ;D They do have a sewage disposal system, but more thanks to magic rather than traditional technology since I can't quite picture the floating Isles in Arcane's territory as Dalaran from World of Warcraft, it... nah, that would be disgusting. xD /haha They probably magic away everything nasty to some disposal point who knows where. lol

Day 38:

Which flight do you think would be the best place to visit for medicine? Does Sornieth have hospitals? Let's go down the rabbit hole a little.......if medicine probably requires a background in medicine via some sort of education, do you think there's medical school? Or is medicine more rudimentary and just passed down through generation? Magic? Do dragons visit Longneck Menders?

Once again, this answer depends on how civilized we think dragon society is. If they are very human-like, then they probably have universities where you can study medicine and some tribal dragon clans and witches probably use traditional medicine.

Then we also have to take into account magic, some beings having abilities that are better suited for healing than others, but then again we have battle stones like Aid , so it's probably a skill you can learn if you train hard enough.

The Plague Flight is the one Flight where they probably know the most about diseases and how they work, while the Nature Flight probably understands the most about natural remedies and which flora and fauna is best suited for medicinal purposes. I can see the two sister Flights collaborating a lot with each other.

Flights like Lightning have probably found a way to build advanced medical equipment and how to administer nanobot treatments to ill dragons and not only that, but they are probably the number one provider of advanced prostheses.

The Ice Flight probably uses secure chambers in the Fortress of Ends to freeze samples of bio material in permafrost and they probably collaborate with Lightning to build cryogenic chambers, with Plague to catalogue dangerous strains of viruses and Nature to preserve different kinds of seeds from medicinal herbs just in case they were to become extinct.

The Light Flight have probably amassed massive medicinal records and history books about medicine. If you ever wondered what sicknesses ran rampant in Sornieth thousands of years ago, visit a Light Library. Ever wondered how different surgical methods have changed with time or which herb cure that one super uncommon disease of which it has only been 3 reported cases in the last 2000 years? Ask a Light Flight librarian.

Other Flights like Arcane probably use magic galore to cure illnesses and create magically-powered prostheses. Fire Flight provides Lightning with the alloys for their medical equipment and prostheses, while Earth Flight provides the raw materials to build said equipment.

Hm... what more can I think of... Shadow Flight can probably be a good resource for fungi and other obscure medicinal herbs, plus the goo and ichor available in their territory can probably be of some medicinal use... or poisonous! Who knows? lol The Water Flight can provide the other Flights with the cleanest sources of water, which is absolutely necessary to have if they want to hinder contagious diseases from spreading. Water dragons are probably also pretty good when it comes to predicting pandemics, after all they're the Flight of the oracles and their deity disperses prophecy bubbles in the Sea of a Thousand Currents.

Last, but not least, Wind Flight are the messengers, the ones that are probably in charge of transporting parcels of medicine and bio material from on Flight to the other when they don't want to involve the Courier Dragons (like Pearl, Spirtfire or Edgar), while also providing the absolute best rehabilitation resorts and sanatoriums. They probably also sell a lot of bottled high quality oxygen to be used in hospitals and the like.

When it comes to the Beastclans, they probably use advanced medicine to some degree, either by studying it or by learning to use magical healing spells. Some members of the Beastclans probably collaborate with dragons and vice-versa, I can't see why they wouldn't, despite the ongoing war between them. After all, if the dragon Flights can set their differences aside, why wouldn't the Beastclans be able to do the same?

They probably get along well enough as to collaborate on occasion, or at least, that's what I'd like to think. The familiars living in my Clan are all very cooperative and probably spend quite some time working as ambassadors and diplomats, so seeing them collaborate with dragons for the sake of science is very likely.

Whoops, I got a bit carried away, but never mind, it was very fun to think about this topic. Now I have a good starting point for my clan's lore and their use of medicine once I develop my dragons' lore a bit more. ;)
