Akiha, the Matriarch
Don't look so scared!

Akiha was a bright eyed young woman when she first found a place to settle down with her mate Kadanoka. The land was vast and filled with runes and crumbling old structures from the old times but it was also filled with valuable resources and beautiful flora and fauna. She couldn't believe her luck! The idea that no one had found this place before her seemed almost too good to be true!

However, as days passed, she began to have a re-occuring dream about a small voice calling to her from the large pit in the center of her new lair. One night she awoke and followed it, befriending the strange and friendly spirit who lived there. Day by day Kadanoka noticed his wife having strange behaviors and talking fondly over some new friend but he had no idea what was in store. Each time she strayed and listened to that sing-song voice, a little bit more of her became tainted by The Shade (a dark force that lurked within their planet), and soon she was obsessed with the now not-so-innocent voice. She was told to summon others to her who had a certain aura about them, much like hers had become. Soon, Akiha began gathering questionable people to her home, creating a small colony of shade-possessed creatures. Then two more came, this time stolen from their nests and forced to train and fight until their minds became numb and they were little more than shade-touched crazed killing machines. Her mate couldn't believe his eyes, and although he tried to stop her it was far too late; the Akiha he knew had already been consumed by the Shade.

The clan grew. They began kidnapping regularly and soon started up sacrificial ceremonies to the voice in the well, only known as The Enyo. Akiha truly believed that she was giving service to their diety the Shadow Binder; that The Enyo was merely a messenger who would deliver the spirits and energy of the sacrifices to their Goddess which they worshipped and earned favor from. However, the truth was somehow even more sinister than that. The Enyo was a demonic entity and each day she grew stronger and stronger; the tainted Akiha and her clan mates were building up a demon into a demi-god and nobody knew or could stop them. So her mate did what he could; he left with his life, hoping somewhere along the way he'd find someone to help stop and save his darling wife and the many other innocent people who'd been imprisoned within the lair he once called home.
