In the absence of the original patriarch, a grey tundra appeared at the edge of the lair, reeking of pestilence and decay though he had no visible wounds. The tips of his fur were coated in dried blood, and he greeted Akiha with the most sickly sweet smile, bowing before her as if he already knew who she was and what she had done. Charm oozed from his fur like a sickness and won over the favor of everyone in the clan, including Eve herself, who fancied no one except for Ares. From that day on, he took his place as the clan patriarch. Akeldama's scent never fully went away, but it soon became apparent why he smelled of death. It was a side effect to his power. The tundra was able to raise the dead with such ease that one would think he was a deity himself. The nochyr that scuttled by his side was a testament to his greatness, and it was a wicked ally to have. He rose crows and familiars back from the grave and they obeyed his every command, however heinous it may be. It was with this power that they trained the hatchlings soon to be sent off to the Shadow Binder, for what was more useful than a never-ending stream of enemies that would fight at command? Despite his grotesque power, Akeldama never stopped exuding the great charm and friendliness that a tundra naturally possesses. His demeanor was so pleasant that often times he could walk into a neighboring clan and speak to them as if he was a happy stranger wandering through, hiding the fact that he was stealing their children right from under their noses. Nobody took notice to the cruelty in his flaming eyes; nobody cared to look twice. |
