Legend has it that the first Turquoise dragons were part of a clan of nomadic performers. These traveling dragons were known across the eleven realms for their bright blue-green feathers and hides, which lent a unique beauty to their aerial acrobatics and dances.
On one journey through Dragonhome, the clan was caught in a sudden rockslide and quickly buried beneath layers of rubble. Though the Earthshaker rarely interfered in the day-to-day affairs of dragons, he mourned the loss of such skilled and beloved artists so deeply that he attempted to induce in them a magical sleep, which would sustain them until rescuers could dig them out.

In time, they were found and freed, though grains of stone and sand had become permanently embedded into them. And - some say because the Earthshaker disrespected the power of his own territory - none of them ever woke.
Today, young traveling performers often come to the site of the rockslide to pay homage to their lost ancestors. Some stay long enough, sleeping among the rocks and weathering sandstorms, that their hides toughen and erode in intricate patterns similar to what was left on the bodies of those they mourn. From then on, wherever they go, the very fabric of Dragonhome travels with them.

But many never leave. On the more isolated reaches of the Shattered Plain, you can find clans of wandering Turquoise dragons who have chosen to band together and set down their lairs. From a distance, on days when the sun catches their shining hides and their music carries on the wind, they've been mistaken for the spirits of that ancient traveling clan. Still bound to Dragonhome, and still dancing.
