Biography
Teravolt, or 'Tera' as he is known to his friends, is an old and stoic character and one of the largest and most imposing dragons in the clan. His deep, gravelly voice is seldom heard, but when he does talk it's usually with a blunt, straight-to-the-point comment. A seasoned warrior, the ridgeback has exceptional self-control honed with many years of practice, and he believes actions speak louder than words. A skilled fighter and tactician, Teravolt was once a highly respected commander, but when he refused to continue in the Beastclan Wars - feeling that both sides were equally to blame for the bloodshed - his former pack turned on him and he was savagely mauled as punishment for deserting. The veteran's wings were shredded, he was blinded in one eye, and many of his spines and teeth were ripped out. The maimed dragon was cast out and left for dead in a bone-strewn ravine. Fortunately before the harpies started circling, he was found by Taze, who patrolled that particular area often. She took the fallen dragon to her clan and The Lastsparks' healers did their best for him. Over time, they managed to heal Teravolt's wounded eye, and most of his spikes and teeth grew back, but the damage to his wings was irreparable. Although grateful for The Lastsparks' help, Teravolt was quietly devastated that the freedom of flight had been taken from him. As the desolate dragon prepared to leave, Scunner, an engineer, took Tera to one side. The spiral explained that he had a prototype in his workshop that he thought might benefit the ridgeback: a set of artificial wings that would sit over the top of a dragon's natural pair, and once wired into place would be able to lend the user the power of flight. The use of the prosthetic wings required intense gene therapy to adapt and prepare his body, and Teravolt underwent a complete transformation while Scunner was making final adjustments to the gadget. The ridgeback's scales became hardened like crystal to withstand the weight of the device, and his broken wings were polished to a shimmer to allow for maximum contact with the contraption. Circuits and wires were fused onto his skin to power the machinery, which was made possible due to his natural born conductivity. When everything was ready, skeptical but holding onto a sliver of hope, Tera went outside to test his new gear. Against all odds, the wings proved a success, and after a little practice Teravolt was soon soaring through the air again. While he still felt a tinge of loss over his true wings, the kindness and ingenuity of The Lastsparks astounded Tera, and he asked if he might join them and pay back the help that he was given, and he was swiftly welcomed as a permanent resident, becoming a close and trusted ally of clan leader Laurel and her closest friends Fluxx and Scunner. Now with a new pack, Teravolt leads the coliseum fighter team, and assists Taze in the teaching of the clan's combative warriors.
