Boden was a normal dragon living his life in the Cairnstone Rest. He grew up with one direct sibling, whom he loved very much. There were rumors of two other hatchmates, but Boden never was able to verify this, as the suspected siblings were separated instantly and sent to the Earthshaker. This always made him sad, as he felt his family was broken apart or incomplete. Family became one of his closest values.

Unbeknownst to him, as soon as he hatched, Seraphina had a vision, calling forth a force of Earth to fight an unknown force of Shadow that will threaten the clan of the Starwood Shores. The vision called for the force of the earth to have a primary of shadow colors, and that the force of shadow will have a primary of earth colors. Theo was immediately sent to retrieve this dark-colored force of Earth, and found Boden exploring the Greatwyrm's Breach all alone. He more or less kidnapped Boden and brought him into the Arcane domain. He was welcomed with open arms by the clan, and while he was upset, it was fascinating to be in another domain. He was treated very kindly and with respect, as he was to be the clan's "Lord and Savior", "Chosen One", or "Destiny's Child" if you will. While this was a pretty sweet deal, Boden missed the simple life of the Earth flights. To this day, his father and sister don't know what happened to him and if he is alive. Every day that thought upsets Boden, and he hopes to one day reconnect and end their worries.

A few years later, Seraphina received a vision announcing the force of Shadow has been born, and resides in the Forum of the Obscured Crescent. Tundra decided preventative measures must be taken at once. He assigned Kato to help hone Boden's hidden Earth abilities. Along the way, they discovered why Boden is "the chosen one". His lineage leads directly to the Earthshaker, with barely any contamination from other flights. This heightens his abilities, making him one of the most powerful dragons in the clan. The clan grew more anxious waiting for the impending doom that was to arrive at any unknown time.

Little did they know, the force had already infiltrated their clan, in the form of a seemingly young dragon named Malojo.
