Ever since he was little, Kato knew there was more to life than just the Water flight. He grew up yearning to learn about all the elements, which raised the eyebrows of many of the older Water dragons. As he got older, Kato's craving for elemental knowledge became too strong, he just had to get his hands on some other-flight knowledge. He ran away from home, and found himself on a course to travel all of Sornieth. While visiting the Nature flight, his first stop, he discovered a hermit wildclaw residing in the roots of the Behemoth. This wildclaw helped show him that his ancestry (having a strong root in all of the flights) allows him to learn the powers of the elements. He also gifted an authentic nature banner to Kato. After that, whenever Kato went to a new flight, he also collected a piece of apparel to add to his collection. These items are rumored to heighten his elemental senses, allowing him to not lose touch with the flight.

Kato's last stop was Arcane. Arcane, the land of magic and mischief. How wonderful it sounded after his long visit to the Plague flight! The flight over was rougher than he expected, and he found himself overshooting his destination by a good couple miles. He ended up on the very edge of the Starwood Strand, instead of the Observatory. After consulting a map, Kato saw a rather large ridgeback soar over him and disappear at the base of one of the Crystalpine Reaches. There was a clan!

After an awkward introduction when they found Kato sleeping on their doorstep, he was welcomed warmly. Tundra, a rather small dragon, helped teach him about Arcane magic and gave him a necklace for his collection. Tundra ended up asking Kato to stay, as all the dragons loved his company and hearing all his stories. He ended up accepting and taking the title of Keeper of the Elements. His job was to pass on his knowledge! This is what Kato has wanted his whole life, wasn't it? He now tutors dragons, helping them strengthen their magical powers and connectedness to their flights.
