Hi I am Lotus and most in the Sanctuary consider me a warrior by heart and a lover by choice. Sadly my contact is limited due to the thorns embedded into my wings. These drip toxic poisons that are not only deadly but severely painful as well. Even though I favor them in battle I hate them. The love of my life Flower is the most important thing in my life. I would kill anyone and anything that stands between us. However, she has no knowledge of my interest in her. I keep it this way in fear of hurting the one thing in my life I have vowed to protect.
Yen has graciously offered to train me as soon as I feel comfortable enough to be around others. He doesn't seem afraid of me or what would happen if he got to close. In fact all of the dragons here have been very welcoming and sweet like they don't know I am walking death. Maybe one day I will be able to see myself as they do and approach Flower and confess my deep love for her. |

Thinking back to my childhood the first thing I remember is the beautiful budding roses all around me. The smell was intoxicating and thorns intimidating. At this time I was an older hatchling and allowed to play further away from my parents nest. Lured by the beautiful smells I walked further and further away from home. I noticed it was getting really late so when I turned to go home I realized just how far I had traveled and did not know the way back. Being the oldest of my brother and I, my parents raised me to be brave and face danger with a level head.
Being alone at night with no home in site being brave was the furthest thing from my mind. In tears terrified I started running hoping against hope to see my home in sight but just as I started down a grassy hill I slipped on the wet grass rolling and landing in a huge patch of poisonous roses. I knew these right away from my parents lessons. I was told to never go near these and to keep my little brother away from them at all costs and here I am twisted and tangled deep in them. I knew what was coming a painful death in minutes of the first scratch when the poison touched my blood. Blazing hot sun woke me the next morning. I tried to stretch and a scream sounded from my throat making me fully aware that I was still in the thorns tangled and trapped and amazingly still alive. Hopelessly I look around and at first I thought I was still dreaming but I couldnt be not with how much pain that was pulsing though my body. I saw at the top of that hill I fell down was a tall dark haired human looking down at me with a soft smile. This was the day I met Scrubbie. She was soft and gentle as she approached me walking very slowly. I had heard stories from my parents about humans capturing dragons and selling them on the slave market so I should be terrified but I had no fear of her. She knelt down beside me reaching out and touched me while I remained silent and watched her pull out a pair of shears and cut me free. I dropped to the ground and passed out again from the pain and amount of poison running through my body. Waking up I am inside a warm room laying on a fluffy blanket. I see a white dragon prancing around and talking softly. I come to find out Yang had nursed me back to health along with some special help from Raja's potions I survived the deadly thorns even though that day now haunts me forever. |
