Curare is a peculiar child, marked by poison and plague, born to the Viridian Labyrinth. His parents clan was known for their colorful coats, hidden away deep in the forest, but he had always felt an affinity to the more gruesome aspect of nature, finding poisonous plants and fungi to be more interesting than the peaceful pursuits of his home. Soon, after reaching adulthood, he settled in a plague clan, only to soon face scorn and distrust from the plaguelings for his nature eyes. After learning all he could about death and poison, and taking all the ridicule he could handle, he left to join the ice flight and use his skills to interrogate the criminals imprisoned there. His constant use of poison made his colorful skin into a warning sign, showing others that he was dangerous, and indeed he was. The poison had seeped into his fur, and even accidentally ingesting a single strand of hair could be fatal. After a terrible incident when his hair shed into the kitchen, resulting in two deaths and fifteen injured, he was dishonorably discharged from the prison and banished from the flight. He swears it was an accident, but most of his colleagues believe it was a purposeful test to see just how deadly his hair was.

He left yet another flight in shame until he spotted three wanted fugitives living in a small fire clan. He blackmailed the clan leader, Mellona into letting him stay, in exchange for not reporting the hiding outlaws. She reluctantly agreed, and now Curare lives in Somnus Cave, continuing to make and develop potions. He is trying to convince Mellona to let him sell them, but she refuses as most buyers are dangerous folk, and she wants no business with them, so he just has a stockpile of potions and nothing to do with them, which is a dangerous combination. Zdravka keeps him far away from the kitchen and most of the clan views him with suspicion, but he and Cymbidiella get along, despite the fact that he was a prison guard and interrogator and she was a prisoner. They both like poisons and death, and despite being on other sides of the law, they get along rather well.
