 Despite being born into the Plague flight where death and disease are nothing if not a good thing, Spinel’s pale plumes were not seen as a good thing in her parents’ eyes. Not long after she hatched, she was kicked out of her birth clan and left to fend for herself in the Scarred Wasteland. Skirting the territories of other clans who would either shun her for her paleness or want to infect her with all sorts of nasty diseases, she carefully made her way through the territory until, months later, she found herself on the edge of the territory dominated by the Light flight.

She felt that the Light flight was as good as any. She had heard that the dragons there were logical and studious, so she hoped that would mean that they would understand that her pale plumes affected little but her appearance. However, she did not get up the nerve to speak to or even look for other dragons until she happened upon another coatl, named Quartz. He had also been removed from his birth clan for his “curse.” It seemed that they knew immediately that they were a couple meant to be. Their love blossomed quickly, and together, they found the clan Sunshard where they now live happily with their own children whom they think are lovely with their own pale plumage.
