Bio

Of all the distant places in the world the bottom of the Leviathan Trench might be the most remote of them all. It’s an alien world to most, but Diamatina was born in those depths.

Like many trench dwellers Dia was born blind. She learned to hunt and navigate the deeps by sensing the flow of the water around. This, combined with her amazing hearing and claws sharp enough to cut through metal, made her just as fierce as anything living down in the dark. She might have spent her whole life hunting in the dark but for a natural sense of curiosity.

Dia began to follow the currents of the ocean, exploring everything she found along the way. Eventually she found herself moving through the waters near the Redcliff Ascent. Curious about the waters near the Southern Icefield, she paid one of Aer Allta’s airships to carry her past the rapids to Windstar Bay. The clan modified the ship to have large water-filled tubes running its length so she could be comfortable. This impressed her and she became good friends with Zephyr, the clan’s inventor. The two kept in touch over the years and eventually Diamatina was offered membership into the clan. Her extensive knowledge of the world's oceans, combined with the many contacts she'd made during her travels, made her Kizreth's first choice for a Water Ambassador. Dia happily accepted and has been thriving in her role ever since.

Dia relies on her speed and wit instead of sheer brute strength. Being blind means she's often underestimated, something she ruthlessly exploits. You'll find her training young warriors in the Ghostlight Ruins

Dia hums to herself as she picks seashells off the bottom of the ocean floor. A few more and she’ll have enough for a nice necklace. Suddenly the water twists and swells, and there’s a huge presence next to her….

"…I think I understand.” she says, head swimming with new images. I shouldn’t tailor my fate to fit other’s expectations. If I want to follow the currents I can and I should.” He nods. “Water is meant to flow, or it stagnates.”

“As our Water Ambassador you’ll be our first contact for Water Clans” Kizreth explains to her. “Someone who knows their ways and customs. You’ll also be a mentor to new clan members from Water.”

The lead representative of the shipping company opens the box and gasps in surprise. It’s a perfect spiral conch shell, both rare and a symbol of their clan. Dia nods her head gracefully. “As you can see we’re very committed to these negotiations.."

____"This isn’t going to suck me into the engine is is?” Dia says it like it’s a joke, but can’t help the twinge of worry she feels. She can sense the scowl on her friend’s face. “In a word? No.” Zephyr pats the water pipe they’re in front of. “It’s totally safe. I’d put my own hatchlings in there. ” The Guardian pats her friend on the shoulder. “They run all through the airship. You can swim now instead of walking. We want you to be comfortable here.” There's a lump of emotion in Dia's throat. The clan really does care.

Emerge

____Breathe out, breathe in. Water pulls through her mouth, through her gills, new tastes and sounds flitting through her senses. It’s the first time she’s been this far up. The water feels so light it’s like she’s dancing through it.

Breathe out, breathe in. Air fills her lungs for the first time. Sea level for most, the top of the world for her. It’s new and frightening and different. Everything smells, feels, tastes, sounds bright and new. She can’t wait to experience more of it.

Lumos

____"How?” Dia marvels at the card in her hands, the three claw marks she poked in it confirming it’s her card. When the newcomer, Lumos, approached her with a magic trick she thought it was as a joke, but he’s managed to surprise her. Somehow he got it inside a shell on her necklace without her noticing. “My senses must be slipping.” Dia smiles at him, noting that his heartbeat picks up when she does. ”I’m just committed to getting past your defenses” is all he replies. Zephyr tells her later that the card is the King of Hearts.

Training Day

____Dead things should stay dead” Dia grumbles out loud. From the sound of the footsteps behind her the trainees are huddling close to each other. She doesn’t blame them; the Ghostlight Ruins are intimidating the first few times. Now they feel like an old friend.

The smell of rust, the scrape of claws against rock. She pivots, darts forward, sends out a sonic blast and counts three wraith hounds. Time to show these young dragons some new tricks..

Faithful friend and helper. A reminder of the tides and the deep canyons below. The sprite shows up one day, carrying a note that simply said “Sometimes we need another pair of eyes to help us See."

A skill useful for both the Ghostlight Ruins and for pranking unsuspecting clan mates. Fall asleep in public areas at your own peril

These fish are friends, not food. Any clan mates trying to eat these fish are going to regret their decision. They all have names, and Dia speaks to them using babytalk. Lumos refers to them as the couple's 'children'

Within the depths of the airship lay a midnight blue spiral surrounded by water. The room itself was dark, the murky water opaque save for the flash of a few colorful fish. Her eyes were the only light source within the room as they cast a cold blue glow that pierced the shadows enveloping her. Of course, a blind dragon would not care about how bright the room she’s in is, if anything she knew she had the advantage within the darkness. Ropes and silks eerily floated around her, the fish nearby darting in and out of the nets draped across her back as if it was a game. Here only the continuous hum of the engines vibrated through space. Over time the once off-putting sound became a form of relief for her, a sort of focus that would put her curious mind at rest for a moment. The water she floated in was surprisingly cold although she never felt it. All her life the water had been cold, only the surface heating up to what she considered uncomfortable temperatures at first. She smiled at the memory of when she first came to the surface all those years ago. Reflecting upon her adventures and the dragons she met. How she ended up with her life in the sky so far from the ocean below. And while it wasn’t the Leviathan Trench of her youth, it was home.
