It was within her many tomes and texts that Aelarise searched for answers to her life's questions. She found answers too, about what to do when her life's work did not summon her into harm's way. Aelarise was a soldier, a guard first, her books could not answer much of what else she was. A reader, certainly, but that was a given.

She knew what she'd been before, a Skydancer so long ago - whose magic broke her. A Gaoler who'd been slain and revived, running messages and supplies through the night to save lives where and when she could. Now, she was a Veilspun, smaller and more dexterous than before - with less magic and speed and strength than she'd ever had. Would she be up to the task of keeping her oath to keep all those under her watch safe?

But what was next? What was she now? Azshara had been her name once, when she was revered for her ability to learn from the cards all that ever was, all that ever could be. Rethothanna when she'd become the vital lifeblood of dying hope for soldiers and citizens alike. As Aelarise, she was a soldier, but what would her legacy be? A noble story she'd had, and two noble lives she'd led. Would the last be so noble as those that came before it? The books held no answers, but they were comforting tales anyways.
