THE MATRIARCH

Contrary to her looks and species' nature,
Éowyn is quite kindly and thoughtful. She is at her fiercest mainly when hunting or battling monsters, and seeks to avoid taking up arms against rival clans at all costs. Some have dismissively referred to her as a pacifist and a coward because of it, but this is a major underestimation on their part. They know little of her capabilities in battle, and she strives to keep it that way.

Éowyn is somewhat altruistic, and has rejected much of what was taught to her by the Priori Cult in private. She is particularly resentful of them for the practice of arranged mate pairs. When she was matched with Cleve, she was not even afforded the opportunity to protest. At the time, she didn't mind Cleve, but everything changed when they set out for Dragonhome. Éowyn was forced rather quickly to reconcile with the fact that her mate was not going to do his part in taking care of their clutch. Éowyn was more or less left to care for their young on her own.

Things have only grown more complicated since they first arrived at the Table Rock. Fenris, the Guardian dragon who kept watch over the Table Rock, is the only reason her children survived the trek from the Shifting Expanse. She has always felt indebted to Fenris because of it, but she was drawn to him in more ways than one. What was first a friendship eventually and inevitably grew into something more. Before either of them really knew it, the two had fallen deeply in love.

That love has remained secret for many years now, embodied by their lone hatchling, Aveira. Éowyn feels immense guilt for insisting that Fenris tell their child that she was orphaned, and she feels worse yet for not being a part of Aveira's life. She knows, however, that she has no other option. If Cleve and the rest of the clan find out, she will be forced to stand trial for breaking the Priori code.
The outcome of such a trial is never pleasant.
