The clan's designated blacksmith for many months now, Aja is also the secret 13th dragon to be excavated from the Fortress of Ends and is a larger part of why so many of the Den’s past residents fled in the aftermath. Information about his origins have been purposely withheld in order to prevent future panic, only a select few know the truth. While Aja is capable of smithing a wide range of items and favors weapon crafting his true skill lies in crafting fine jewelry the latter has provided a great boon for the lairs economy.

Despite his lack of fighting ability and obvious talent for crafting jewelry over weapons and armor Aja believes himself to be a paragon of warriors and aspires to craft the tools of fighting legends. Aja is loud boastful as he believes any good warrior would be. Fortunately, the frequent passing of dragon recruits allows Aja the opportunity to fill large orders of weapons without expending a skill he doesn’t have. Even though he’s never been in a real battle Aja wears heavily ornamented armor he crafted himself. He will also loudly proclaim “All those years spent as a popsicle don’t count’ when questioned about his age. Still, the greying in his feathers would imply that he was quite old even before he was subject to imprisonment.

Aja traveled to the Icefields after years spent as a jeweler in the Hewn city, One day in the dusk of his youth seemingly out of nowhere Aja decided he no longer wanted to be a jeweler but instead would devote the rest of his life to crafting weapons fit for legends. When no one ordered these beautifully ornamented but ultimately ineffective weapons in the Hewn city Aja chose to uproot and move somewhere where jewels were less desired than swords. Of course, upon entering the Icefields Aja was subsequently captured and frozen. He would not be set free until some time later when Marco foolishly returned to the closed excavation site for one final dig.

Naturally after being frozen for so long, reconnecting with friends and family would prove difficult. Aja, however, seems untroubled by this and is more than happy letting his old life fall away in place of his newer more fulfilled one. His opinion of a dragon tends to fluctuate depending on what they’ve ordered that day. There are a few exception to this. Pashek who’s earned Aja’s allowance through his good food and willingness to listen to Aja prattle on about drastically exaggerated tales of heroism he’s performed and Tullius who’s battle prowess gives him Aja’s unwavering loyalty and admiration. He sees Caligo as a young dragon on her way to full-fledged villany if she’s isn’t shown the light. This despite the fact that Caligo is far closer to him in age and was once a very active participant in a nefarious cult. Aja also dislikes Udana solely for the fact that Udana is the only one in the clan that is unwilling to put up with Aja’s Knightly fantasies and frequently tells him as much.

The Fortress of Ends

As the one who freed Aja from his eternal prison, Marco's held in the highest esteem and Aja frequently boasts of Marco’s heroic deed much to Marco’s discomfort. In an effort to repay the favor Aja aided Hubble in repairing the enchanted clothing Marco requires to be able to see and move about the lair freely. It is the only non-amorous piece of craftsmanship Aja repaired without a single complaint to date.
