Duchess Paravel might have considered the truth identity of Mort. She would be willing to accept even a spy or an assassin to serve her by her side, but never a warlock.
Some traces back to his past indicate he is not born in Neoferus, but a native citizen of Ignis. There is more to wonder, why a well-educated young boy will exalt himself into the evil and pain, destruction and affliction. What has he been through, that he is coming for plot and vengeance.
