Skin pale as bones and wings red as blood - a real plague beauty!

The happiest day in her life was the days she met Dracarys; tall, dark and wild but with a loyal heart and a great sense of humor.
Mates for life - the perfect couple.
They settled down in the clan and soon there were two eggs in their nest. They got two baby boys - cute little Coatls. Valyria and Dracarys tried to be the best parents in the world, caring their children with love and tenderness.

Tregen, their first born, grew fast and healthy. Self-confident he explored his surroundings and it was certain that soon he would leave the clan to see more of the world. Sad and happy as once, his parents let him go. They know he will find his way. But they were worried about his younger brother. Since his birth he was kind of different, small, quiet and introverted. They tried to show him the world and all the beautiful things out there but he liked to stay in their cave. After his brother left their clan he didn’t eat or talk for three days. Valyria was desperate and even Dracarys was about to lose hope. The morning of the fourth day they woke up and the sleeping berth of their son was empty. Valyria began to panic but Dracarys pointed to the entrance of their cave. Outside in the sunrise they saw the silhouette of a small Coatl. Since that day he changed. He became more courageous, was seen outside every day and sometimes he even talked to other dragons.

The most terrible day in her life was the day she lost her son.
No one knows what happened exactly, he simply didn't come home from a walk. The whole clan searched for him throughout the night. It was in the early morning when they found his body. No wounds, no blood, no magic in the air but he was dead.
Dracarys and Valyria buried his body on a hill where he loved to sit and watch the sun move across the sky. No one said a word, silent tears were shed and a hole grew in their hearts.

A few days after this tragedy Valyria was visiting the grave when suddenly a shadow appeared, it was a spirit that looks like her son. She called his name and tried to run to him. When he heard the voice he turned. Dead eyes looked at the desperate Coatl, he didn't recognize her. She meant nothing to him. Before she reached him he disappeared and was never seen again.

They never fully recovered from their loss. It took a long time before they had new eggs. And before they hatched they made a decision which affected all dragons in the clan.
Their council lasted days and nights. After a lot of discussions and argumentation they all decide to do it. And so they created the spell of the Sanguine Souls!

Sanguine Souls:
Their souls are bound to their body and blood.
In life dragons with Sanguine Souls are very strong-minded and are hard to be controlled by others. They have a special resistance to magic and a lot of them are able to use magic.
When a dragon with a Sanguine soul dies his souls stays in his body. He can't come back as a wraith or be summoned or bound to an object. His relatives have to perform a ritual and speak a secret word to free his soul. The soul leaves the body and the world immediately and can never be brought back. Without a ritual, the dragon is stuck in his dead body...
[Every dragon carries his secret word with him as long as he is alive. On paper in a necklace, an engraving on a piece of jewellery or as a tattoo - everyone chooses what they prefer.]

All dragons that will be born in this clan automatically will have a Sanguine Soul. Dragons from other clans who decide to live here will get a Sanguine Soul with a special ritual - but no one is forced to do this.
