backstory
- kitchen assistant working for chanda's dads
- son of two scientists
- family moved from their original fire clan a few days after hatching
- mom and dad became nervous when he turned out to be the Kid From Hell™
- crystal and her mom move in shortly after. tiny hatchling crys wants to befriend the angry pearlcatcher, even if he bullies and throws random things at her (including his pearl)
- does eventually become friends with her and drops his crappy facade, desperately wanting to change who he is. it does take time for him to turn a new leaf (and a lot of reprimanding from crys)
- transitions w/ a lot of support from his loved ones, especially crystal
- later on he wants to find "The One (or Two. Maybe More)." crystal is more than happy to help her best friend and tries to hook him up w/ potential partners
- he and crys walk back to their lair after a failed date and run into luna, who was fleeing from her pursuers. both of them agree to help them and take them into their clan
- after luna was almost caught, he called his parents to let them know what happened, scared out of his mind. zach and valerie explained that they knew her family, and urged him to let her stay with him for the time being while they contacted her uncle

personality
- relatively easy to approach, very friendly
- dislikes pointing out mistakes/making others feel bad. will tell white lies to appease peers
- will give lots of affection if someone wants it
- gets flustered easily
- very self-conscious over his capability of being a good boyfriend. despite the events happening years ago, nike's scared that his actions from when he was a hatchling would come back. it's made it difficult for him to maintain romantic relationships
- overly empathetic. if someone vents to him, he'll get emotional for them — e.g. he starts tearing up when someone tells him about a close friend dying. it clouds his judgement at times
- hopeless romantic. clashes with his insecurities and he hates it

physique
- has a habit of biting his claws and plucking out the hair on his tail, cheeks, and joints. hates when people point it out
- inherited pyrokinesis from both his parents. uses it for mundane things like heating up food
- magic limit: limited to simple fire augmentation (increase the intensity of fire), burning and melting certain objects like paper and ice, and basic fire generation
- passive effect: slightly higher than average body temperature. great for hugs and cuddles
- allergic to cinnamon and pineapples (so pineapple on pizza is out of the question for him)

relationships
- has a good relationship with both parents, better than in his earlier years. gets embarrassed by them whenever they do stuff like show off old photos or crack dorky humor
- in a polycule with luna and crystal

- found refuge and support in one another when they needed it most. they've had some hurdles, primarily the results of trauma and insecurities they all have, but they try their best to communicate or give space when needed. very affectionate with one another in private

- one of the few dragons luna trusts. is patient with them, and allows luna to be themself. reassures them that they do not have to put up a front like they did in despit. admittedly worries that he might take advantage of them since he played a huge role in their rescue. loves seeing luna become a flustered mess if he cuddles them
- childhood friends with crystal. still guilty about lobbing wooden blocks at her head when they first met after all these years. nags her for piggyback rides. gets annoyed when she tries to stop his claw biting and hair plucking habits
- goofs off with ken a lot. god he feels so bad asking help from him though, knowing ken despises others taking advantage of him. ken has to reassure nike that it's chill, he won't get mad, because they've known each other for years
- close with chanda. got his interest in the culinary arts from working alongside one another in chanda's dads' kitchen whenever they hung out. suggested they take psychology courses, as he noticed how attentive they were to posts about it as well as conversations pertaining to the subject. they both disapprove of luna and ken's Cursed Food Shenanigans
- good friends with willow (//maybe they dated briefly??); anxiety buddies. they don't see each other as often since they're both busy with what's going on in their lives

other
- has anxiety (generalized + social), gender dysphoria, and severe acrophobia
- eats cheesy romantic crap up. romantic movies can make him cry. the dorkier they are, the more emotional he gets
- gets nervous around small hatchlings, especially if they throw temper tantrums, because they remind him too much of how he used to be
- absolutely despises being called things like "pretty" or "beautiful." anything other than that's a-okay
- enjoys cooking food as much as eating it

The cloth is spilling over the table's edge
Like a crimson waterfall,
Swaying to the rustle of the gusty hedge
And the trees' rushing, shifting call.

The sun is high and day as young as supple face,
But...just as pretty as that dress that's hung with woven lace.

Admittedly the wind is a tad strong, but is that not nature's beautiful song?
Though comparatively, there really isn't all that much that's wrong.

Yes, yes, the birds scree loudly in the morn', and dew still clogs with every step.
But I could have sworn that I had secured the table legs firm and set.

Ah, but now there is a fragrance in the air, one that I can't quite place on this smokey haze -
It may be from our tipped table, candles setting it up ablaze.

"If you look closely—but not too close, because if he catches you staring he is sure to flush redder than an apple—you will notice that he has bitten his nails down to stubs.

A nervous habit, acquired along with many others. He can't help it, really.

With a past like his, it is a wonder that he has escaped only just scathed by severe anxiety (trust him; it is more serious than it sounds). He's still looking for someone he can trust, someone who will reciprocate his feelings and love him back.

Luna and Crystal are a big help, of course, and already he wonders. Maybe, just maybe..."
