That was all the egg felt around them.
Cold, harshness, without the warmth of its eggmates, or its parents.
It was alone.
It always would be.
When the snows thawed, and spring was strong in the air, a curious Nocturne stumbled upon it.
Excited, she raced back to her denmates, located in the Tempest Spire, Stormcatcher's booming voice was heard even from there, but drowned out by the thunderclaps and roaring outside. The Nocturne looked around wildly from one dragon in particular, chirping, mimicking voices, climbing up backs to spot them and she beamed when the dragon, a Bogsneak, was spotted a few tail-lengths away.
"Caitlyn!"
The Bogsneak, who was talking to a large Imperial, looked over, letting out a yelp as the Nocturne rammed into her, coiling around her neck. The Bogsneak huffed in annoyance, standing up.
"Tiana, what is it?"
"I found an egg!"
"Congratulations."
"But its special!" The Nocturne whined.
"How so?"
"I just know." The dragon whispered, eyes twinkling.
The Bogsneak gave the Nocturne a look before sighing. "Alright, alright, we can keep it, I'm not sure Wayland or Morro will be happy with another Queen in the Nesting Dens."
"They can suck it up, I'm moving in to take care of my babe."
The being in the egg seemed to move, it liked what it heard.
As long as Good Mother was around, it could do as it please.
