Biography

Valygar: When one first passes through the gates of Goldenstorm, one cannot help but notice the beautiful lake that resides in the center of the looming mountains. Surrounded by both green and snow, the lake is a beauty to behold. In the warmer seasons, the waters are calm and pleasant, the waves rippling across the bright blue canvas. In the colder, more reoccurring seasons, the lake is shielded with a massive sheet of ice, glowing like a gleaming mirror underneath the sun. However, within the lake resides a monstrous guardian, a creature feared by many. The fish in the sea obey her command; the currents give way to her passing. So monstrous is she that not even the queen herself dares churn up her seas. No dragon nor foreign beast is allowed within her depths. We used to wonder what motivation or vigor Sirene has in protecting her precious waters. But now? We know.

So...um... mistakes were made. Sorta. If we had to we would blame it all on Viviane. To be fair, she didn't know that there was a leviathan living in Sirene's home, but in hindsight, Sirene's overprotectiveness of her lake probably should have taught us that something was different.

Viviane: *Clicks and screams triumphantly as the waters of the lake swirl up around her to form a maelstrom* SKREEE
Sirene: *tackles Viviane and bellows loudly* RAARRR
*Suddenly, a melodious voice starts singing from bellow. Both dragons stop moving, then Sirene quickly pulls away and swims back into the deep. Viviane stays hovering, but now with her trident in her grasp. The maelstrom gets stronger, then Viviane realizes that it is out of her control. She screeches and attempts to fly away, but the waters keep rising to meet her as she continues to fly upwards. Then, from outside the tornado, the clan witnesses a gigantic form burst out of the eye of the storm, lunge up, and drag Viviane back underneath the depths. The sea then calms, and all that is reminiscent of the event are broken ice sheets.*
The Entire Clan: ...
Emerald: nOPENOPENOPENOPENOPENOPE WHERE'S THE EXALT CANNON THAT'S ENOUGH FOR THE DAY.

Viviane was promptly spat out of the sea 2 days later. The skydancer was completely petrified and refused to make a sound for the rest of the day. A note was attached to her wing, which read "Stop it. Spit your water elsewhere."

From what we can piece together, Sirene's charge is this creature (who we soon dubbed as Ceto), this creature is the second-largest nightmare that we have ever seen (second only to Sqiggy), and this creature might have a sense of humor. Aldari wanted to proceed in negotiations and has suggested that we host a tea party with it. Her request was quickly shot down.

Before I begin, answer me this.

What is a god?

This abstract concept has been within the minds of mortals in millennia past. Do you
answer Akiri, Amogayvhi, or Artaios, or any of their primordial brethren? Though common, this sacred conclusion does appeal to many. One has the strength to rip the sky asunder, while another has the will to consume the world in flame. One reigns the cyclone in his claws, while one heralds the typhoon. Surely, they deserve the title of god, do they not?

Now, if you came to that conclusion, which you most certainly did, let me ask you.

What makes them gods?

Is it their power? 11 beings with the unbridled strength to control their respective realm. We
must worship the strong, for their restraint is the only thing keeping us from annihilation. Then, why is the Shade not widely considered a god? Sorneith’s natural antagonist is only our enemy for he is as powerful as the gods, is he not? In fact, evidence suggests that he is even more so, for it took the combined efforts of four of the “gods” to make him flee, not even for good. Did it not return, with its shattering of the world pillar descending our world into anarchy?

Before I continue, I think I must establish that I do not favor the Shade, nor do I appreciate
with its worship. The cultists do not appeal to me as much as any of the other flights.

Perhaps it is something else. Perhaps they are gods due to their elemental alignments.
Elements, of course, are the building blocks of our world. This makes them crucial to our survival. Without one god, the world and its respective element may cease to exist. They are necessary for us to exist, and therefore, they are gods.

What happens, then, when you freeze water?

Is ice an element? Would ice cease to exist without Eberict’s mandate? If Rhenik was really
dead, as some radicals have vehemently declared, would the waters simply disappear? If it did, what would happen to Eberict’s domain? Can ice exist without water?

If your answer is yes, you disown science. If your answer is no, you disown your concept
of divinity.

Maybe the answer lies with magic then. The world is wrought of it, with everything, living or
dead, containing some mystical property. While their material elements may continue to exist, eliminating a deity would remove each element’s magical property. Without the concept of magic itself, a god is nothing.

Therefore, are material elements necessary to constitute a god?

I, and Xhaztol’s existence, suggest not.

Pardon me. Who am I to not give you an introduction of myself?

What should I call myself? Perhaps I can settle with the name the first four gave me.
Hyreena. That name did not last long, however. You cannot blame me for disappearing into the edges of the world. Hearing the four squabble over their united creation did not help my newly formed psyche, and so I fled. When I returned, the pillar had already been constructed.

As the younger races emerged from Sornieth’s womb, I took on a different title. Divinita,
or, when translated in your tongue, Goddess. With new sentient creatures walking upon the earth, I decided upon a different role and made myself known to all. Kingdoms were raised in my glory, and more were torn down in my name. However, my acts of aggression encouraged my follower’s adversaries to seek new means of power. And so, they found the pillar, and my reign, once omnipotent, was now restained. Decades passed, and my followers were massacred. My rule faded away, and Divinita was scratched away from the annals of history.

Of course, the fall of my followers could not have happened with my decision.

Simply put, I was bored. My kingdoms had lost their meaning, and my hymns dissolved into
an endless droning. It brought me no entertainment anymore to see entire civilizations obliterated into ash, blood, and bone. The dying cries of my enemies, men, women, and child, no longer brought me euphoria. And so, I decided to save them. My priests lost their prowess, and my soldiers their strength. When my final mage’s bones were broken under the collapse of the last temple, I felt no remorse.

Thus, I decided to lay low once again. As the rule of magic ended and the age of technology
began, I spectated as wars shattered the landscape. I was warmed by the blaze of Firebreather Uprising, and I listened to “The Speaker’s” prophesy. The peace that followed was… certainly unexpected. Xhaztol’s coming was of similar proportion; I had not seen a draconic form in a millennium.

And now? What is my name?

Ceto, the name of my current host, will have to suffice. Mother of Monsters. What were
her parents thinking, naming their child with something reeking of such terror? I suppose it is more fitting for me instead, not this poor girl sharing her consciousness with mine. This idea of mine is new, and for now, it is amusing witnessing the world through the eyes of one who can fear the prospect of death. Of course, she knows of my existence. In fact, I would dare say that she appreciates it, with all her power stemming from me. She can die, yes, but little does she know that it will only happen if I will her too.

Yes. Call me Ceto. She would enjoy it.

Who am I? Ceto.

Now, what am I?

Am I a god?

That is for you to decide. I have no theme that I align with. The way I see it, I am magic in its
rawest form, unrestrained by the concept of elemental alignment. My chosen are simply born with magic flowing within their veins, what they do with it is up to them to decide. I offer a degree of freedom that the other gods could never provide. I have seen one rip through time and space, and another defy the laws of gravity and force. My followers were once accused of heresy, though no acts of fakery explained their proficiencies of bending blood and metal.

Some are born with their powers, while others have them granted by me. Some can live their
entire lives not knowing of my existence. Others have chosen to dedicate their lives in my name, though, more often than not, their lives have not ended in the most flattering of ways.

And yet, you still remain undeterred.

You taste it, don’t you? You want the power too.

Fine. I will entertain the notion.

But first.

You know who I am. Now, who are you?
