Biography
Astronomer and magician.
His son Alcor accidentally wandered into his fathers study while the wizard was conducting an arcane experiment, and got himself sucked into a space-time vortex, to vanish without a trace. He ended up in the Viridian Labyrinth, but due to the warped nature of his travel, aging doesn't affect him anymore. Luckily, a compassionate clan took him in before he could get eaten by the many predators of the Nature domain. However, Yahalomit was unaware where his son ended up, and tried to develop a spell to find him.
When he did, he was shocked that the hatchling wasn't drifting in some other dimension or dissolved into atoms somewhere in a fold in space-time, but very much alive and well. It seemed that Yahalomit unintentionally created a long-distance teleportation spell, and with much effort he managed to recreate it, land somewhere in the Labyrinth, and start searching for his son. When he found him, he called him Alcor - but in the meantime, the hatchling had adopted the new name of Snugglepie.
They now have a happy blended family, consisting of both Snugglepie's blood relatives and his adoptive family.
Yahalomit was surprised and intrigued at Alcor's eternal youth, and has conducted some observations and magical testing of how this can be. The results say that Alcor somehow escaped the linearity of time by passing through the rift that made him end up in the Viridian Labyrinth, and is still detached from it, forever staying a child - but due to the irregularity and volatileness of magic, he can still learn and remember things beyond what he knew and remembered as a tiny hatchling. This brought Yahalomit a giant step closer to devising a spell of eternal youth, and secretly he is thankful that his son helped him so much with his studies, but he keeps this a secret as he worries others may think he cares more about his work than about his family.
Yahalomit is down-to-earth, stoic and doesn't show his feelings that often. He's a deep thinker, thoroughly fascinated with his work of magic and alchemy, and discovering the fabric of reality and places beyond that can't really be called places because they're not physical places at all. He cares deeply for his family, but would rather protect them from harm than let them walk into danger to make their own experiences. He's aware how hypocritical this is, as a child he was outraged whenever his guardians wouldn't let him experiment and experience, but he can't stop himself from wanting to keep his loved ones safe. He has difficulty letting go. He can be quite serious, is dedicated to his studies, curious and if something odd happens he's far more likely to try to check it out and find out why than to stay safe and not risk it. He's very large, and feels more safe than his family, which is why he's so protective of them yet lets his own curiosity drag him into danger. He somewhat looks down on the other flights who are way too busy with worldly matters and warring amongst themselves to care about the true mysteries of the cosmos that need uncovering, and considers them a little ignorant.
He's somewhat quiet and surprisingly gentle and caring, considering his ginormous size, but can develop an intense passion for the things he loves, contrasting his usual calm, stoic demeanor. He's somewhat eccentric, and potentially easily bored.
