Nova pushed her way through the crowd gathered at the feet of the speaker. She listened in awe as he told the dragonets the deeds he had done as the Guardian of a Lightning clan. Just then, a large, purple dragonet, flanked by a blue one with white spots and a black one, sat down in front of Nova, blocking her view.
"Um, excuse me," Nova said, peeking around the tail of one of the larger dragonets, "but I can't see the speaker." "Why would you want to see the speaker?" The blue and white dragonet asked sassily. "I want to know what I might come across when I become the Guardian of a clan." Nova said proudly, her electric blue eyes glowing. "Ha!" The purple dragonet laughed. She gave Nova a sad look and petted the top of her head with her thick tail. "You're such a little runt and a baby that you couldn't guard a thing." Nova's eyes sparkled with tears as she stood up defiantly. "I could too!" Nova shouted at them. "You're just big bullies, you don't tell me what my limits are!" "We can if we want." The Purple dragonet grinned at Nova with an air of power and superiority. "And who's going to stop us? You? That's the silliest thing I've ever heard. Isn't it, girls?" The other two dragonets nodded their agreement. "I hate you!" Nova shouted, crying. "I hate all of you!" She then ran off, pushing her way blindly through the crowd of dragonets. Nova was hatched from a deformed egg, leaving her with thin underbelly scales and stunted growth. Because of this, she was constantly teased and told that she was useless. She never knew her parents and she didn't have any friends, she there was no one behind her to defend her against the bullies. This has left Nova insecure for the rest of her life. When she was old enough, she left to found her own clan. She founded this clan on the belief that all have the right to be accepted, no matter what. The first dragon she met on her journey was an outgoing little Fae named Ereth. Ereth was the fist one who truly lifted Nova up when she was down, and he was a lot of the driving force in the creation of Nova's clan. She loves all her clanmates with all her heart, and they are what gives her the strength to continue defying the bullies. Occasionally Veloden's distrusting nature will get her down, leave her thinking that's she really isn't a good Guardian, but Ereth and her other clanmates are always there to reassure her. |
