Very soon after hatching from her ice-shard egg, the little dragon shivered in the frigid clearing. She was small and wet-winged. Moonlight beamed down on her head, casting silver shadows about her. Her wings were wrapped tight around her small body, and she hopped forward tentatively on shaky legs, hesitance abundantly obvious. Her talons scuffed the snow as she ventured forward, letting out a surprised squeak whenever her soft-scaled belly brushed the cold ground.

The wind brushed her body with a winter paint, and she hunkered down in a vain attempt to warm herself. The snow gradually grew into a warm melt-puddle beneath her, and she did not rise, for an instinctive fear of frost enrobing her soft-scaled underbelly. Her warm breath created opaque puffs of warmth in the winter night. It was there she spent her first-ever night, head tucked under her frozen wings in a vain attempt to shield her tiny form from the elements.

For the next week, the blizzards continued, never once waning in their wraths. The cold needled between her scales every time she slept. Before long, it was clear that the term "warmth" no longer held appeal to her, and as the days wore on, she soon became unaware of the cold. This was how she spent her first months, and she was half-grown by the time she encountered any dragons...
