The most feared Nocturne of the Night Parade beneath Calligra and Sanguine themselves, Reliq is known only as The Prodigal, and serves as the Yokai’s leading battlemage. Unlike Nox, who uses flashy magic for direct and immediate damage, Reliq is known for her plague magic that slowly cripples a target like a disease or poison, making it difficult for victims to trace their doom back to her.

The lastborn child of Calligra and Sanguine’s first nest, hopes were low for Reliq. Though not the runt of the litter, she was not very able compared to the energetic and agile Graffy, or the small and quick Hinode. Her parents cherished her beauty, but like her name implies, they also expected her to be lost to the ever-shifting sands of time as her brothers and sisters grew strong around her. This sentiment intensified as she grew older and began learning to fight. While she was extremely accurate and keen at defending herself, there was simply no strength behind her strikes. She could shove over a heavy urn if she used the strength of her whole body, but breaking it with simple strikes was another story entirely. Nox refused to give up on her, though, and began to teach her the ways of magic. While ranged magic was previously unknown to the Yokai, Nox saw Reliq’s training as a prime opportunity to introduce it into the subspecies.
Reliq’s official title is the Yokai Battlemage, though in practice her job seems more like that of a magical assassin. Kubinashi calls upon her magical talents when a particular subtlety is needed, or when he would like to put a delay between contact and the target’s death. When not on a mission, Reliq works in equal parts for the benefit of the Yokai and for the benefit of the entire Night Parade, studying Plague magic in a way that would allow her to create lasting, curse-like spells that resemble the plague and sickness that surrounds them in the Scarred Wastes.

On a personal level, Reliq is very composed and tolerant. It is difficult to tell when one offends her, as she generally takes things in stride and never retorts. She does, however, hold a vicious grudge, but believes that revenge is best served subtly. She is always willing to give advice to those who are having bad days or struggling with something or another, as she enjoys deep, intellectual conversations. If you’ve slighted her, though, beware; she is mistress of underhanded insults and emotional torment, a feature she has almost certainly gained from her mother.
