Biography
Hyperion
The Primordial
"Destiny itself chose us to grace Adviser Fester with a conduit for his research, and we do not intend to disappoint."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Who is Hyperion?
Consisting of the gruff yet even-tempered Hyper (of bent horn) and the erratic, cranky Ion (of spiraled horn), Hyperion as a whole prefers to keep their heads down and avoid other dragons where they can. While they are rarely outright antagonistic to others unless they or those they view as superiors are insulted, the two minds that make up this Aberration are constantly bickering in their heads and under their breaths. However, the one thing they share is a strong sense of honor, duty, and loyalty, ingrained into them by those who created them. This is only assisted by their Lightning element, thus making them fiercely obedient and loyal to the Ridgebacks of the Night Parade. This is particularly true of Fester, whom they believe they owe for their mere existence.
Place in the Parade
Having learned all that they know regarding alchemy from Fester, Hyperion has a thorough understanding of the clan's alchemical findings and knowledge. They are also well versed in the protocols and theories surrounding the clan's process of experimentation, and therefore serve as the chief director of projects when Fester is occupied with his role as Adviser. Although they are obedient to all of the clan's Ridgebacks, Hyperion holds a respected position as Fester's direct subordinate, giving them free access to anything they could possibly need for their alchemy.
In addition to leading the numerous Aberration alchemists of the Night Parade and advising them in their experimentation, Hyperion is also responsible for managing the clan’s Bogsneaks once they have reached adulthood. Each dragon is subject to a test of their limits, judged by Hyperion, and sent off to work with an alchemist as their test subject until they either perish or reemerge a different, stronger being as Hyperion himself once did.
Joining the March
When word of the Bogsneak Mutagen created by Baldwin began to spread around Sornieth, Fester quickly found himself obsessed with it. Hyperion was the first result of that obsession, a complete, living dragon born specifically to be used to further explore the mutagenic effects of alchemy and plague magic. He was raised quickly, and taught the basics of alchemy at an early age. Sheltered from much of the rest of the clan, he learned about the world through Fester and the various tomes about the Ridgeback’s laboratory. Upon reaching adulthood, Fester deemed him stable enough to begin experiments on, and experiment he did.
At first, the experiments were mild, and simply ended up giving Hyperion the ability to liquefy himself at the cost of a constantly slimy appearance. When the Aberrations emerged from hiding, however, the experimentation grew more intense. Fester tried everything he could think of to create a serum to emulate the conditions of the Wyrmwound, twisting and warping Hyperion’s body until it finally came out resembling the twin-headed, twin-tailed ancients.
Paranormal Activity
Although Hyperion as a dragon is one being, Hyper (the three-eyed one) is the one in control of the body’s magic. Most important to him is his ability to electrify and magnetize metals, a skill that he uses to mass-produce strains of the Bogsneak mutagen. He is also capable of performing a sort of false telekinesis by magnetizing things, which he frequently does as Ion controls most of the pair’s body. For more hostile encounters, Hyper is able to electrify their body, allowing Ion to deliver powerful shocks to those who make contact much like an electric eel.
Familiarized
Chilo is both a result of Hyperion's early experimentation and an invaluable tool in furthering their research. The sentient cauldron is known for its appetite, and constantly secretes a variety of ooze, sludge, slime, and goo that Hyperion and the clan's other alchemists collect as reagents. Insatiably curious, he frequently causes alchemical mishaps by skittering onto worktables and drooling into cauldrons. No one is sure if the familiar actually knows or understands any of what he gets himself into, but he has earned a place of endearment in the hearts of the clan alchemists nonetheless for his inquisitiveness.
