Biography
Babette uses her eternal youth to lure unsuspecting dragons to their demise. After all, who would expect such a sweet hatchling to be a vicious killer?
Awakened Familiar: Greybeak Reaper Art by Araej roman poets describe blood as purple. royal, deep, dark-- but the blood of immortals is ichor, golden as sunshine and deadly. diana takes the appearance of a child, soft and gentle, but the arrows sticking out of the backs of men are hers, not apollo’s. may your poets describe blood as pink. may your cotton candy clouds be thick and heavy with storms. may you take the appearance of a child, innocent and sweet, but may you always remember to display your fangs with every childish grin. - alienjack |

The summons got Astrid's attention once again, and she got to her paws without a second thought to follow it. It wasn't completely unusual for some dragon to call on them--she had even done it herself, in the end--but they were so feared and the ritual was so unknown to most that it was rare for any to even have the knowledge to do this, and the will at the same time... But after she slipped through the Brotherhood's secret ephemeral ways towards the Sacrament's summons...she came to a complete and sudden stop. It was beautifully-done, the more detached and business-like part of her noted; the victim's effigy was perfectly constructed, with the freshest of parts, and the injuries inflicted on it were done exactly as they were supposed to be...but something was bothering her on a much more subtle level. Something here was wrong, even if the ritual was perfectly right, and only her duty to her position kept her from backing out right now and-- There was the lightest tap on her arm, and a childish little voice. "Hello!" Astrid would be ashamed to admit that she nearly jumped out of her own hide at that, but she whirled and only saw a little pink Spiral, looking up at her with great Shadow eyes. ...But how had she sneaked up on a trained assassin?! The Spiral went on, however, folding her little reddened paws neatly over one of her many coils. "So the Sacrament does summon the assassins. The old Snapper was right." She smiled, but in place of teeth more suited for munching bugs than dragons, there were just rows of bloodstained, razor-sharp fangs. "Too bad I had to silence him to call you. Oh well." Astrid had to exert a great deal of effort to keep calm and in place now, but she managed, even as her mind whirled trying to comprehend the sight. Out of an adult, she wouldn't have even flinched. But...this was some hatchling, and clearly not a normal one at that. It reminded her of Vicente, almost... But now the little one was patiently staring at her, and the Mirror straightened back up a little more, her voice still level when she spoke. "You summoned us?" "Of course!" the Spiral replied, just as cheerily as ever. "First I thought I'd have a contract for you...but..." Now she looked thoughtful. "I had to kill a dragon to do this, you see. You can't find decent material if you don't do it yourself. And I decided...that I liked it." Her smile grew until it was practically ear-to-ear, and the look in her eyes warped in an instant from fake innocence to murderous. "I liked it a lot. And I want to do this forever." But she rapidly reverted to her previous happy and blameless facade, and now she was really turning a pleading little stare back at Astrid. "So I thought I would ask you, Miss...Can I join you? And learn? I do love to learn!" Admittedly, as unnerving as this hatchling was...Astrid couldn't help but be impressed. And there was no way she could deny such a strong potential assassin, either. Besides, their Brotherhood was in and of itself a family of misfits and outcasts alike... ...So she would fit in perfectly. Her decision was made. "Yes." She winced when the little Spiral let out a piercing squeal of joy and fluttered about in the air for a few moments in excitement, but the pink little thing did finally settle down and just waited on her. And those big Shadow eyes followed her every move. But still, she turned, and finally beckoned the Spiral through. "Your name?" The answer was quick and simple, but she didn't even turn to look over her shoulder as she flew through the odd shift to get to the Brotherhood. "Babette." ~Story by DariikSnake~ |
