Skua was born on the edge of Dragonhome. He collects sediment samples from all over Sornieth for the Dragon Stone Society (DSS) to study the geological development of Sornieth. Skua is an avid rock collector on the side. One day while collecting Ash and Pumice samples(and the occasional geode) from the Molten Scar he was struck by a particularly vicious Onyx Cobra, Skua was afflicted with a bad case of gembond, which affected his eyes as well and lead to the loss of his eyesight.

Skua is not completely blind, he can see dark and light and he senses vibrations through the earth and air using his antennae/gem as well as his feet..
