Biography
Wyelib the Enlightened
Clan Founder - Clan Leader - Arcane Leader
Intelligent - Impulsive - Headstrong
What a magnificent planet to have spawned on! Out of all the many planets I have seen through my scope, this one seems to be the best by far! Though I might have a bit of bias for living here!
I was born in the most gorgeous place in Sornieth, right in the great Observatory amongst the crests of the Arcanist. Though ever since my hatching I've always been in search of more. More knowledge, more magic, more ideas! I can't get enough of it!
But I knew right away that this quest of mine couldn't be fulfilled within the borders of the Arcane realm. I read every book in the Great Library and still, I needed more to learn about this world! Text simply is not adequate at describing the experiences each land held, and so in an act of ambition, I sought out to have those experiences for myself.
The Sjenan Nomads
With my newfound quest for knowledge, I had no idea where to start. I set out East on a whim with a bag of holding and my wits. For weeks I traveled through the Windswept Plateau, tactfully avoiding the Wasteland. The Plateau was large and fast-paced, and while I met many dragons, none stayed around long enough for me to even learn their names.
In a long arc, I made my way to the Sea of a Thousand Currents in hopes that I could find someplace to settle down for a few days to take notes. Unfortunately, there aren't many places in the Sea that fit that description, so I wandered about the Tsunami Flats for a week. A few times I stopped to speak with some of the locals to learn about what it's actually like to live in the Water domain. Many were very warm and welcoming, and more than once I was offered an overnight in a clan's cave or reef. I agreed hesitantly, fearing the worst for my paperback notebooks, but was pleasantly surprised to find that many Water clan caves sit in hidden dry pockets about the sandstone cliffs and corals.
One one of my more thoughtless excursions about the cliff edge of the Leviathan Trench a swift current caught me and pulled me deep into the murky depths of its waters. The water got incredibly cold, and I wondered whether I would die of hypothermia or lack of oxygen first. Out of the literal blue, however, a flash of shimmering pink surrounded me and before I knew what was happening I woke up in a dark cave next to the pink creature, a Fae much larger than I, who was nonchalantly drying herself off with a scrap of cloth.
The cave, I now saw, as my eyes adjusted, was small and mostly empty, save for a small food storage pile in the corner and a nest of fabric tucked away in a crevice. I saw no other dragons in the cave with us.
She didn't speak much, but she looked troubled. I introduced myself and she appeared to be ignoring me, but when I trailed off she responded with her own introduction. "Milo," she called herself. Milo was reluctant to speak too much, but I intuited enough about her to get by. I recounted my story to her, and while Milo pretended to ignore me as she worked, I knew that she was listening intently. Which is understandable, since she seemed to live quite a lonely life, so I would imagine she appreciated the company.
Milo lit a fire over a small pile of rocks in the center of the cave with a flourish of magical breath, which amused me, as she is a Water dragon. I curled up in my wings by the fire and watched as Milo expertly cooked her stock of fish. When she handed me one I was unsure what to do, as I had spent my whole life dining on insects, so I awkwardly worked my way through a bit of it, amazed when I looked up from my food to see Milo surrounded by fish bones and scales.
I couldn't help but giggle. Milo stared at me for a few moments with a blank expression, and I stifled my laugh. But she looked around at the mess she had made and fluttered her cheek crests ever so slightly, the tiniest hint of amusement.
Eventually, as the day progressed and fell into night, Milo began to relax. She still didn't speak much, but that was just her nature. She seemed rather content with listening though, and sat quietly as I told her stories from my home realm. In time I grew tired, and I fell asleep watching Milo stoke the fire one last time.
In the morning I awoke to a cold fire ring and a floor clear of fish bones. I feared for an instant that Milo had left me in the night, but mid-thought she emerged from the dark corner of her cave, carrying with her a large Depin-hide satchel. She handed it to me and wordlessly began gathering some of her own possessions into a similar bag. I followed her lead and made to pack my notes away in the watertight bag, only to realize for the first time that I didn't have them. They must have been lost to the sea the day before, I thought out loud.
In my peripheral vision I saw Milo's ears perk up. She had heard my comment about losing my belongings. She took a few steps forward, nearing the edge of the cave, and before I could say anything more she dashed out into the water.
