Biography
MORLENA
cursed matron

No one is certain how the curse came about. Several dragons of the Hull swear up and down that it happened because of the catastrophic breakup between the most long-lived couple of the Hull - Dolormun and Morlena. They had never been the most even-sided couple, and Morlena had finally gotten sick of putting herself forward and not receiving enough in return. Or at least, that's what the gossipers told.
The dragons of the Hull know the when (it was quite hard to miss, with all the strange ghostly clattering and knocking and the small event of a hoard of possessed boulders smashing down the small Fae enclosure up on the mast and putting Loquaesa on the ground for three months with a snapped wingbone) but though they had those rumors, the why and especially the how remain unknown. Perhaps it was a trick of the forest somehow, a long finger of the Shadowbinder stretching out to punish some old wrongdoing. Perhaps some object brought back from the raids had let loose a curse on poor old Morlena. Whatever the case, Morlena can no longer talk, nor smile. She floats or rolls or crashes around the outside of the hull, unaffected by weather or any beastclan attack. Out of kindness and probably a bit of pity, the dragons of the Hull wrapped Morlena in long, wide ribbons, to keep her boulders collected in the shape she'd once been and give the impression of a dragon. Morlena does not seem to eat or drink anymore, but sometimes knocks on the walls of the Hull as if asking to be let in, and slides her rocks together in an eerie scraping whine. "Not to worry," is what Captain Loquaesa says. "Ayumra shall guide us, and on our journey, we shall find a magic to undo what's been done. Matron Morlena will return to us." And Morlena drifts. |
