Biography

Clan Information
________________________________________________________________

Location:
The clan occupies the territory at the Eastern border of the Hewn City, all the way to the shores of the river delta. With the original members of the clan coming from Shadow territories, some of the lairs lie just inside the city, shrouded by the ever-present shade, while the Light-born dragons enjoy the vast grassland, speckled with ancient ruins.

Economy:

The clan has a large number of mercenaries and mages providing services to those in need of protection on their travels. While the clan location allows for plentiful fishing and gardening, hunters in search of bigger prey often have to strike a bargain with forest-dwelling clans to stock on food before a less bountiul season.
gqcY9j7.png
The clan traders have an ongoing agreement with a few mining clans of Dragonhome to trade the warriors' services in merchandise transport for discounted raw minerals and gemstones, that the clan's famed jewellers turn into masterpieces sold all over Sornieth.

History:

The clan originated in the Tangled Wood, but split in half after a schism between the two leaders: Bloodstone and his mate, Ametrine. Bloodstone took those loyal to him to seek asylum under the Lightweaver's wing in exchange for their service to her cause, and has been taking care of them ever since. The clan has long since grown into one of the biggest trading hubs, and has gained many new members, so only a few remember the story of where they came from.

From Shadow into Light

When harmony falls ill and balance is thrown out of play, consequences come to writhe their way into dragons lives.

Within the Tangled Woods resides a slow going clan, led by a Guardian with blood in his teeth and poison pooling under his talons. This dragon, appropriately named Bloodstone, leads side by side with a Fae of hallow’s colors and a dastardly smile to match. She brings no good.

With a quick snap of her maw, the fae broke the clan into two, a great schism that is sure to scar her clan for generations to come. And if it weren’t for a grandiose warrior, Nacre, her corrupt doings would’ve gone unknown.

Nacre, another fellow Guardian of the clan, was an indecisive one. Her heart held loyal to both leaders, but once she found out Ametrine’s deeds, it was obvious where her heart laid. But Nacre never was attached, attachment was weakness, and it was easy for her to change.

It would’ve been nice for Ametrine to change too, but Shadowbinder forbid her turning her frills to the right for once in her short-lived life.

Now the deed in which Ametrine struck, was a something grand in itself and is worth an honorable mention.

Poison. Ironically.
5KGfdy1.png

Ametrine was power-hungry and everyone could clearly see. No one could see through the smoke and mirrors she built around their heads before attempting to poison Bloodstone swiftly in the dead of night.

There was a grand feast, and everyone was invited. The medics flocked from the north, the mercenaries congregating in the yard, and the commoners bustling to find a good spot to eat. This feast was to reward the clan of their feats after a battle they had fought out for in a war for the past decade. It was everything worth bragging about.

There were fish and pickled toads, crickets, chocolate and no chocolate for the picky Faes, salmon and cod, and the finest grass and weeds for the herbivores. Bloodstone had piled a plate of fish and a couple slimy, wriggling maggots in the mix. He pranced his way to his long table and promptly plopped down and ate away and his massive pile.

Ametrine, on the other hand, sulked in the corner, avoiding wings and eyes, plucking beetles from her hands to crunch in them like candy. When she caught Bloodstone eyes, he beckoned her over with giant talons, but she scowled and flew away from the party.

In her gloomy and rancid abode, she whipped up a concoction. One sure to give Bloodstone tummy troubles before he bit the dust. She capped the vial and returned to the feast with a cackle in her throat.

Nacre joined Bloodstone’s flank, sitting to his right at the table. She watched wearily. Something didn’t feel right, and the wind didn’t hit her scales the right way either, tonight.

“Bloodstone,” she whispered, tapping on his shoulder.

“Hunmhgrgh?” he grumbled, his mouth stuffed with grub and fish scales. He meant, "What? I’m eating". But he should’ve thought about the phrase with an empty maw.

“Where is our leader, Ametrine?” she worries, but Bloodstone waves her concerns away.

“Nacre, it is our night, tonight.” Bloodstone swallowed his bite of food. “We’re are celebrating your victory, this is no time to be worried over nothing! She is likely home, sleeping away the night, after all, she doesn’t enjoy social events such as this.” Bloodstone assures her.

A Pearlcatcher bounds into the room, frantically searching. He stops and the other end of the table and screeches, “Death! Death is coming, it has struck our fellow wing-mates!”

Bloodstone heeds nothing of it but Nacre, who’s already hanging over the edge of her seat, jumps up and follows the Pearlcatcher. After a few turns and hallways they pass through they come into a room of still dragons, and on the floor lays a mirror, foaming at the mouth. One of the medics is by her side and looks up with the two enters, and simply shakes and bows her head.

Nacre’s head flies up and she scans the crowd. “Who did it?” she howls. No one reveals themselves or moves. But in the corner, a plate of bone catches her eyes. It sinks away into the shadows and Nacre never sees it again.

The party becomes solemn over the fallen comrade. Everyone choose to disperse and leave before anyone else is done harm.

When Nacre returns to the long table, Bloodstone is passed out with a bulging belly of food. She leaves him and sleeps in a nearby chair. She doesn’t trust Ametrine, and she will watch for her.

The next few days would pass, more and more dragons falling ill. By the end of the week, Nacre decides to admit to Bloodstone who is doing it.

“Bloodstone,” she says, one day when the court is gathered at his long table to discuss. “I think I may know who is poisoning our food and mead.”

Bloodstone bats a fatigued eye. “Who might that be?” At this point, the table’s discussions have nearly silenced but Nacre doesn’t care who hears.

“Ametrine,” Nacre shouts.

“How so?” Bloodstone holds worry in his voice for once.

“The first night of poison, I saw her lurking in the shadows. Haven’t you noticed her absence from her duties as leader?”

“Indeed I have. What do we do?” Bloodstone turns to the following dragons and they all avoid his eyes.

“Leave, flee, whatever we can to escape her!” Nacre says.

“But how will we keep her from following pursuit?” Bloodstone has a good point for once.

“Incognito. We’ll gather the mages, and go around gathering our dragons and cast a spell over her nest. She shouldn't wake till we are long gone. Where are we going to go?”

“Certainly nowhere in Shadowbinder’s territory. I’ve heard much about the Hewn City though, in the Light realm.” Bloodstone says. “That is our destination! Nacre, gather our brightest, strongest mages. We have a trick to play.”

And with those words, the court went away, gathering their things and loved ones. The mages flew to where Ametrine slept and constructed their biggest spell yet. Bloodstone still had mercy for Ametrine, so instead of eternal slumber, he gave her a week. In this week, she would experience nightmares beyond belief that she can’t wake from.

The clan fled, carrying what little their wings could carry. Yet, some of the clan insisted on staying, whether they couldn’t bear to leave their homes or still trusted Ametrine, Bloodstone did not know or care. They searched for the land of light that Bloodstone told awaited them. Just as they all were bound to give up, there, on the horizon, lay in slumber, the blinding goddess of light, awaiting their arrival.
9TwDy4F.png
Bloodstone was among the first to see her awake and he bounded to her before she would cast them away without a word. For all she knows, her sister could’ve sent her nuances to deal with for the next hundred years.

“Lightweaver,” he said, bowing his head to the goddess. He looked over his shoulder and signalled for the remained of the clan to join him.

“What brings you to my domain?” her voice was soft like cream, pouring over the weary dragons and calming their screaming bones.

“Someone brought turmoil and pain upon us from within our ranks. We had to flee. We offer our strongest warriors to you for your patronage and watch over our clan.”

Lightweaver surveyed the kindhearted dragons and seen they meant no trouble. She looked Bloodstone in the eye and spoke, “Alright. I will allow you all to embark on my lands, and you shall fight in my name and offer your service when I request such. Understood?”

All of the dragons shook their heads in unison. None of them dared speak to the goddess. Lightweaver took off into the rising sun.

“C’mon! We have a home to find,” Bloodstone ushered the dragons.

They continued and found a home to rival their very own in the Hewn City, where the shadows lingered through night and day.

Now, the clan rests peacefully as a trading hub, offering their mercenaries, services, and wares to others. Bloodstone rules with an iron maw with Nacre by his side, thankful for all she has done in war and for the clan.
