Biography

Silence held the sky the first seconds. The clouds stood still and the sun froze. Wind stopped its song and waves stopped its percussion symphony. The only things that moved were uncertain dragons breathing, waiting, watching. Even they were quiet. Claws reached to the ends of eggshells and a body shifted. Eggs weren't to be brought out of their nests to uncertain lands. Especially those with parents of known existence.
Even the loudest of dragons couldn't help but watch silently as a blue and purple figure heaved itself onto the ground, landing with a soft plop onto the grass. The figure raised its horn from the soil and stared with large red eyes at the staring dragons in front of it. Letting out a squeak, it stumbled its way to the gathered dragons, eeping and acching.
Thistlepaw was the first to move. She was always the first. Padding to the figure, she scooped it into her arms and hushed its squeaks. The silence from the hatch was still held by the gathered. But it was shattered by a screech from the sky. A bird streaked to the earth, wings blasting power and force and beak emitting a blast. Right before it hit the dragons, it zipped up and released a small package, Hovering for a bit, the bird screeched again and flew across the sky in a flash.
Obsidianwing snatched the parchment and read.

To the leaders of the Clan of Fallen Dreams,
It's not that we trust you, but because we watch you. Experiment. Test. Pass. This is not a regular drill. Keep. Train. Raise. This is now yours. This will not have the same control as display. Return. Report. Repay. Eventually this will be ours again. Live. Name.
Lazuli.
~Someone Who Knows

The sun blazed once more and the clouds crept across the blue. The wind played its woodwind and the waters played its percussion. The dragons returned to their work and only the clan leaders, Thistlepaw, Obsidianwing, and Skybourne took the blue figure to the patch behind Demonwing's Den.
"They're at it again. What do they mean by a different control than display? Does it not control Plague?" Skybourne glanced skeptically towards the bundle.
"The best thing is to follow the letter's instructions. Experiment, test, pass, keep, train, raise, return, report, repay, live, name. We must treat this as our own and when the time comes, return it. It's a test of our sharp. We have not failed yet and I don't expect we do in the near future." Demonwing hid the letter. "Lazuli. That's it's name."
"Who even sent the letter?" Thistlepaw piped up. It seemed like someone who knew all, like a deity. But why would they send some third-rate bird instead of a spirit?
Demonwing addressed the topic. "The Diamonds. Always been supervising clans across Sornieth in a long-standing tradition or something. Their job, I guess. They've been keeping a special eye on us for quite a bit, so this as a test will not surprise me. We raise Lazuli as they want us to. Don't tell Lazuli of their past. Got it?" The group nodded and everything returned to normal.
Over the next moons, Lazuli was raised in the Clan, under the watch of Crimsonwing and occasionally Obsidianwing. He was told that he was an egg found in the Plaguelands, never told the real reason behind his residence. But one day that all changed.
That day, a messenger pigeon landed on Panemorfi's wing. After reading the message, she relayed to the clan the information she had acquired. A clan in the Gladeveins was being attacked by some other clan in Sundial Terrace. They requested intervention in exchange for either treasure or gems. Included in the message was a map to their clangrounds. Making an executive decision, Demonwing chose to provide aid.

The Pedernales River is a tributary of the Colorado River, approximately 106 miles long, in central Texas in the United States. It drains an area of the Edwards Plateau, flowing west to east across the Texas Hill Country west of Austin. The name "Pedernales", first used in the middle 18th century, comes from a Spanish word for the flint rocks characteristic of the riverbed.
