"Did you know our great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather was a tundra?" When Etsu, a native of the Snowsquall Tundra, was researching his family tree, he learned he had an older half-brother who had founded a coatl colony in the Starfall Isles and decided to pay him a visit. Ez was delighted to meet Etsu, as he had never been close to any of his siblings and was excited at the chance to bond with a brother. Etsu also looked forward to getting to know his big brother - dragons from the region of his birth were disparaging of Eztli (he was too much of a dreamer to fit in well there), but the residents of the island of Prufrock seemed to look up to him. He is amused that his brother has a pearlcatcher for a mate but saddened that Ez doesn't plan to sire any hatchlings and therefore make any further additions to his line on the family tree. He himself has grand plans to further his family line, though he had difficulty at first in attracting a mate...going on and on about genetics is rarely the sort of thing to attract female companionship. Etsu finally found love where he least expected it. A moon spirit courier who had come to the island of Prufrock bearing a message for her Queen caught his eye, and he found he couldn't stop thinking of her, though he argued with himself that he had no idea what breeding with a spirit would do to the genetics of his family line. He eventually worked up the nerve to seek out her company rather than watch her from afar, and they had many interesting conversations about their respective worlds that eventually segued into romantic liaisons. Though some on both sides - spirits and dragons - opposed their relationship, others saw it as a symbol of hope and a promise of peace between the two realms. The support of his brother quieted most muttering on the dragon side, at least. He was saddened that he and Mitena were only blessed with a single egg, though he wryly admires the irony, given his profession, and adores his daughter, Johnna. He was thrilled when Jo found herself a mate and eagerly awaited the hatching of his grandchildren, though the couple's first nest together was marred by tragedy thanks to an attack by a malevolent spirit. The eldest, a wildclaw named Ayla, was possessed by the spirit and later left the clan to seek out Tome's parents in Oakrest; the other, a coatl named Quercus, suffered from severe seizures, and Etsu privately worries that his family line will end with the two of them. While Etsu maintains genealogical records for the lineages of many of the clan's dragons, he is especially concerned with the lines of two families - his own, which he has dubbed the "M'keti" family based on a bastardized turn of phrase in the coatl tongue meaning "son of Etienne," the father of both himself and Eztli; and the family tree of Ez's mate Winternight, which he has titled "Sylvansleeve" based on their origin in the Tangled Wood and Winternight's craft as a tailor. With the growing number of Oakrest dragons in the clan, he has also begun to trace some of their family lines, in particular those descended from former Oakrest residents Brightwork and Shula.
