"Hmm...I think this picture needs some happy little trees
up here in the corner..."

Though Jan was born into a clan in the Starfall Isles renowned for its warriors and his older brother Vis was one of the finest of those warriors, the peace-loving tundra was firmly against engaging in any martial combat and bluntly refused to train. It's not that he disparages their efforts or thinks the profession wrong - he just knows inside that it's not for him. He believes his destiny is to depict the world in as many colors as he can, not to paint the ground with the blood of enemies, so he spent his time honing his art skills while others around him trained for war.

When Vis started bringing his battle partner Ven around for meals, the young tundra quickly became enamored of the older imperial, much to his protective elder brother's annoyance, especially after the fae discovered his brother sneaking the imperial into every drawing he made.

He moved to the island of Prufrock with Ven when his brother summoned them and was thrilled by the library and the many texts the scholarly coatl were writing that were in need of illustration. Jan was quick to befriend Vellum when he learned the coatl was skilled at making paper and ink, and he often frequents Vellum's workshop to pester him to concoct yet another color. His friend Wallace from his birth clan joined him after he sent the other tundra repeated letters pestering him to move. The wildclaw Kouta shares his love of painting, though they work on different mediums - Jan on paper, Kouta on the hides of other dragons.

Jan prefers to work on his art outside when the weather permits and can often be found with an easel at any point on the island. When his fae brother is in one of his calmer moods, he is usually found nestled in the fur on his brother's head, watching him draw or paint. Jan's favorite place to be, though, is curled up beside Ven...when his brother isn't around to interrupt them.
