Biography
-Grandson of Emrys and Elyta, cousins to Revas and Kuratoro, nephew to Avery and Cecil
-Helped guide Keilus to Prufrock since he wanted to see the peach trees (maybe traveled with caravan? or too crowded/noisy for Keilus so they went on their own?)
-Has some sort of magic related to ash like his father; might have also learned rites from Oakrest dragons concerning his magic so that he can scatter the ashes of the dead so that they can never reform
-Will be helping Dust excavate the area where Vespers' clan used to be in the eastern part of the island, helping them find the remains of the dead and putting them to rest
-Archaeologist of sorts; loves digging and finding random things and then going to the library to look up what he found (other dragons, AKA Nathaniel, are perfectly content to sell anything valuable in Moonshadow Market)
-If he and Ashes are in the same room, there's inevitably confusion regarding their similar names

Like his father and his sister, Ash has the remarkable skill of manipulating ashes. He can use grave dust and ashes to commune with the dead, hearing their tales and learning about what final wishes that may have still been left undone. Steady and stouthearted, Ash does not shy away from challenges, least not those presented him by the dead.
He grew up in Oakrest to Emmer, who used the ashes of dead fiends to scry and find others that lurked in the crypts below their lair, and Marleigh, a leather worker who had settled in the clan to keep tabs on her sister. While his brother Darkglow has always been fascinated by change, Ash is more interested in what caused present events to unfold. How did certain choices made long ago cause the situation that exists now?
Ash is largely accepting of others, and so he became friends with Keilus while they both still lived in Oakrest. Keilus would follow him around whenever they were both in the gardens, and Keilus demonstrated his friendship with Ash by actually speaking with him. It was often about plants, though Ash didn't much mind. There was much to be learned of healing salves and poisonous plants that Keilus could rattle off and that Ash knew may one day be of life-saving importance. Besides, he enjoyed the autistic skydancer's cuttingly accurate assessments of some things, which were almost comically interspersed with completely inaccurate assessments of others. Ash's mother sometimes remarked of their friendship, saying that Keilus was always an adventure to be around, because one never knew just how he would react to anything.
But Ash knew. He learned Keilus' behaviors pretty well, and so when Keilus started talking about some fruit trees in some far-off island, and about some caravan that had stopped through, and how the walk would probably be long but they could make it, Ash put the brakes on the conversation hard.
"Kei," he said, "think of all the other dragons in that crowd. Think how much you hate being around other people. Do you really want to go there that badly?"
Kei was watching the twist of leaves in the wind, his fingers stroking a downy-soft underside of a leaf. "I want to see the fruit trees," he said. "They grow peaches. I've never seen a peach tree."
Ash sighed. "We'll go together," he said. "Not with the caravan. You'll hate the caravan. Eleven, you can smell it all the way up here."
So Ash packed the pair of them up, and he took some directions from his mother, who had made the journey from Prufrock years before. And when everything was packed and ready, the caravan was long-gone. And Ash and Kei started the long, long trip across Dragonhome towards the south, all in search of some peaches.

Emmer came to Oakrest as a young dragon with a remarkable skill - he was able to manipulate ashes and cinders, sending them whirling and swirling through the air, or using them as an augury aid. Given enough cinders, he can become ash himself and flow through the clan as if on a breeze, finally reforming himself elsewhere when enough ashes have made it to the destination.
Level-headed and calm, he is a clear thinker, and for a while he assisted the Hunters of Oakrest, using the ashes from the burned bodies of monstrosities to tell where others of their ilk were nesting. While there, he fell in love with Marleigh, a guardian who came following her sister to the clan. Marleigh's leatherworking has provided Emmer and other Hunters with plenty of sturdy but light-weight protection for their trips down to the crypts.
One muggy summer, however, a plague swept through Oakrest, disrupting their quiet lives. Many around them were sick - coughing, spiking fevers, their hides clammy and shedding scales and fur. These were no conditions in which to raise children. Emmer knew that it was best to leave, but a quarantine had been leveled, and only those proven in good health were granted travel.
Emmer and Marleigh went to the inspection sites together, but they were split soon after, and in the confusion, when Emmer was cleared to travel he realized that his mate was nowhere to be found.
He waited a few days in the canyon below before a letter came to him by way of one of the guards. Marleigh had written him, asking him to begin his journey. The doctors, she wrote, had found something troubling, and they did not know whether she was ill or not, and so she was delayed while she was under observation. She begged him leave, and send word where he was settled. If she was well, she would try to catch up.
Regretfully, Emmer wrote a letter back, telling Marleigh he understood, and with luck, they would be together again. With the letter entrusted to the guard to begin its route through the Citadel to reach his mate, Emmer picked up his belongings and faded to ashes, hoping to find a new place that would find use for someone with skills like his.
