"What has become of my clan?"

A small, sky-blue Fae perches atop a cliff. This was where her clan had lived. Her clan was gone. Where could they have gone? She had faint rememberings of a slight, small, silly gold Wildclaw by the name of Aurum. A Skydancer, and a Nocturne. FrostMuzzle and CrystalMirror, respectively. Had her clan moved away from the Windsinger's reaches? They must have, or else they would be here... Perhaps they moved somewhere else on the Windswept Plateau- they certainly would not leave it. Would they?

She scanned the scrubby bushes and the light green floors for any sign of life. Over by the cliff she was on, were the nests. She could see the dented hollows that had long been removed. Where could her clan be? Calling to her mate, Nightfall, she launched herself into the air, beating her small Fae wings in order to keep up with the larger Mirror.

"Nightfall," she panted. "Where do you think they could have gone?" The Mirror didn't look down, but replied quietly, "I don't know, Celestial. I don't know. They couldn't have gone far... after all, it's only been what--a year?" CelestialGaze shook her head. A year was long. Almost too long. They flew in silence for a few more minutes as the Great Furnace, belching black smoke into the air, came into view.

"You don't suppose they've gone to the Ashfall Waste, do you Night?" she whispered, shivering. "I don't know if they would do that... but they might since it's nearby, it suits them... I guess." NightFall didn't answer.

Celestial was getting tired, so Night let her curl up on his broad back for some period of time... the heat was almost unbearable, but they had to continue. They had to find the clan they left behind in their haste to throw themselves to their deity. Would it be possible that their carefree clan left behind a wonderful life for this? This, this hot, arid place where the air trapped you underneath a burden of heat? No, that wouldn't be possible. That couldn't be possible. Her clan wouldn't have moved to the Ashfall Waste.

A wave of cold passed over them.

Celestial froze. No, not literally.
Cold, in a place of heat?

Then, darkness as she could hear scuffling, a cry of pain. Was that Night?

She was calling out. Was there more than one dragon, no there wasn't.

A flash of white scales.
A pale blue eye.

Then, nothing.

When she woke later that day, she wasn't anywhere she recognized. She was in a warm, soft bed, in a room lit with a glow that only fire could provide. Which, thus, proved that she was not out of the Ashfall Waste. Rolling around, she could see Night still snoozing, with his tail over his head.

Where were they?

A door opened on the other side as a somewhat familiar golden Wildclaw popped his head in and tilted his head at them. A quiet but powerful voice accompanied his appearance.
"You sure it's them, Aurum?" it said.

The name jolted her into reality. That dragon was Aurum, the same Wildclaw that had joined her clan a year ago!

"Positive."

Celestial was stunned to see how far her clan had progressed from the small, small group to a clan with well over 50 dragons... some were visiting--from another clan she was told. Her clan was made out of wanderers now, lost ones that would never find a way home.
Well, the Clan of the Black Rose was their home now. It was, and would always be. It would always be her home as well, since this was the clan she had founded. Her clan, which had changed so much since she last set foot within it's boundaries, all the way in the Windswept Plateau. She wondered if they would move anytime soon, but that seemed unlikely. These dragons remained steadfast with the Flamecaller. They were happy here. Why, she couldn't fathom how, but her clan being happy was all she cared about, so as long as they were happy, she was happy.

She couldn't understand--however--how a small, sly spiral had risen to the position of clan leader. Sure, her and Kat had become tight friends, but she always felt that the spiral had always been somewhat... distant. It was quite ridiculous, as they shared all their secrets with each other, but it still seemed strange that she was not leading her clan into their battles, she was not strategizing her clan's growth... she felt as if she wasn't doing anything. And it was infuriating.
