Biography

Iceheart
Retired Leader of the Clan
Wise-Loyal-Brave

Iceheart was one of two founders of what would later be the clan of Drifting Song, alongside her mate, Iceblaze. They had three hatchlings, though they died soon after. Lost in grief and feeling blocked out by Iceblaze, she turned to one of her clanmates, Iceshadow for comfort. Months later, they had two hatchlings, Darkfreeze and Snowstream. Iceheart passed them off as her own hatchlings, and Iceblaze, though doubtful, accepted it. Her and Iceblaze had one last daughter, Ice, who trained with her father to become a powerful warrior. When Iceshadow went mad from an infection, he killed Snowstream and revealed to the entire clan that Darkfreeze was his daughter, not Iceblaze's. This caused a rift in the clan, and even after Iceshadow died and a number of years passed, fights would break out. After one went too far, Iceheart and those loyal to her in the clan fled to their allied clan, Clan Saeiyrn. With the help of Ice and her gaggle of warriors, as well as Clan Saeiyrn, Iceheart fought Iceblaze and won, taking back the clan and restoring it to peace. After she won the clan, she passed the leadership to two trusted clanmates, Miswing and Hedwig. Though they passed soon after, Iceheart remained to help the next pair of leaders, Darkfreeze and Midnight. Now, she assists Shimmer and Archer with their trials related to leading the clan.

Iceheart had wanted to cut ties with Iceblaze for a long time, and no one in the clan could blame her. They had all noticed how he had changed after Ice left, and how she had started avoiding him, to the point that she fled to Clan Saeiyrn and caused a civil war. She could have easily convinced Hedwig and Mistwing to kill Iceblaze, but no matter how much she resented him, she couldn't stand the thought of causing his death. He had been her mate since the clan was founded, after all, and she remembered the happy times when he treated her better.
"Iceheart."
The pale Mirror turned to see Darkfreeze standing in front of her new home, a frown on her face. "What is it?" She asked. Instantly, her thoughts turned dark-they were in unfamiliar Wind territory now, and all of Clan Saeiyrn's dragons had left them to set up their camp. Anything could go wrong.
"I'm concerned about Iceblaze." The grey dragon told her. "Normally I would take something like this up with the leaders, but I understand it's rather...personal, for you."
Her four white eyes narrowed, and she tensed. "What about Iceblaze? I understood that he had already established his den at the edge of the camp, and hasn't interfered with our building at all."
"He's...up to something." Darkfreeze sighed. "I admit, I don't have that much concrete evidence, but yesterday night I saw him sneaking away. It was far past the time he usually goes out to hunt, and it looked like he was trying not to be noticed." She walked further into the cave. "You know now would be the perfect time to try and pull something. We're in a new place, and many dragons are uncertain and wary. Some even think this wasn't a good idea."
Iceheart caught on. "You think he's trying to take control again?" She thought quickly. Darkfreeze really didn't have much evidence, and taking the issue up with the leaders could cause problems. The last thing they needed to do was enrage Iceblaze by falsely accusing him of something. She came to a decision. "I'll look into it. Talk to him, or spy on him. I'll even try and gain his trust if I have to."
Darkfreeze looked alarmed. "Is that wise? I understand the sense in it, but he'd probably have tried to kill you by now if the clan wasn't around. If he finds out, it could end badly."
"He can't just attack me, Darkfreeze. The clan would turn against him." She smiled reassuringly at her daughter. Inside, she had her own doubts. What if he did find out? She thought back to all the times he had taken out his anger on her, and the days feeling helpless and resentful and afraid. There was a reason she had avoided him since the end of the civil war. Would she really be able to deal with the memories for the sake of a lone dragon's suspicions?
Pushing them to the back of her mind, she headed towards the edge of the camp, where Iceblaze had made his den. She nearly turned back the moment she saw the large, light blue and grey Guardian lounging among the trees. He opened his eyes as he heard her approach, and instantly scowled, a growl rumbling in the back of his throat.
She steeled herself, and continued onward. "Iceblaze." She greeted him.
"Iceheart." His reply was nearly a snarl. "Do you need something?"
Once again, she faltered. "Ah....I was wondering how you were settling in. You haven't talked to anyone since coming here."
"Fine." Iceblaze got up, slowly walking towards Iceheart. "Why are you really here?"
"I-I want to repair our relationship." She told him. "I miss you." All lies. She missed the old Iceblaze, before Iceshadow was killed and Ice left and he became angry. She never wanted this hateful version of Iceblaze back in her life.
He snorted. "And I don't. You lead the clan against me." Anger seeped into his voice, and his claws dug into the ground. Instinctively, she took a step back.
"Please, I just want us to stop avoiding each other." She replied. "I-"
Pain flashed through her cheek, and her eyes widened in shock. Blood dripped from Iceblaze's claws as he glared at her. "You betray me and force me from my leadership position, and now you want to come crawling back? Pathetic."
She brushed her talon across the claw marks on her cheek, then growled. She was done with him treating her like this. Rationally was gone from her mind, replaced by anger she had felt for a long time. "Don't you ever call me pathetic again." She snapped back. "You're the pathetic one here. I'll tell you why I'm really here: because I have reason to believe that you are plotting something. If you don't explain right now why you were seen sneaking away from the camp late at night, I'll tell the leaders." She bared her teeth. "You're already under suspicion after the civil war. If they know, it won't end well."
Iceblaze actually seemed to consider her words for a moment. Then, he leaped forward. "Then they won't know."
She stumbled backward, barely avoiding him. He swiped at her again and she ducked under his claws, using her smaller size to her advantage. She retaliated, clobbering him with one of her wings. After a moment, he regained his balance and grabbed her shoulders, knocking her to the ground. She saw a flash of teeth, and the reality that he was trying to kill her finally hit. Fueled by panic, she twisted out of his grip and dug her claws into his throat.
He stared at her in shock and fury, trying and failing to make a sound. She scrambled to her feet, watching with wide eyes as he fell to the ground. For a moment, he continued to struggle before falling still.
She wasn't sure what to think as she looked at his body. Should she feel sad? Relieved, maybe? She had killed him, and nobody in the clan would blame her for it, considering how he had attacked first. Finally, she was free of him.
But yet....she remembered the old times, when they loved each other. She wasn't sure which Iceblaze to think of. What was one suppose to feel, after killing their lifelong mate in self defense?
She didn't feel much, just looked at him with detachment. Later, she knew, everything would sink in. For now, she turned away and headed back to the camp. She needed to tell the leaders, and investigate what Iceblaze had been doing, just in case his plans might still pose a threat to the clan.
