For many years, Winterspring has been a key fixture in the kingdom of Nacht, likely since he was a child if the rumors are true. He is regularly seen patrolling the halls of the royal castle, in shining white armor, with a rapier at his side, and with a genial smile on his face. Countless hatchlings have grown up underfoot, and most know Winterspring as something of an idol. Though he never boasts to them about anything, they love to make up stories about his bravery and his unmatched prowess on the battlefield. They're careful not to let him hear, though, since it's clear he disapproves. Winterspring's disappointment is worse than any anger he might muster. When he isn't guarding the royal keep, though, Winterspring is a strategic genius. His calm, thoughtful demeanor lends itself well to matters of logic, and through the years, it has helped him rise through the ranks of the royal guard. Once a lowly foot soldier who enlisted to bring honor to his family and country, he is now one of the lead strategists of the guard, and some say he is likely to be the next captain. He regularly contributes to administrative meetings, especially those concerning defense of the kingdom and its resources, and he is also in the process of establishing an intelligence unit that would better serve the interests of the land. At present, though, his main concern is fortifying the borders. Reports of errant magic are spreading through the kingdom, and traveling dragons tell of an Emperor ravaging distant lands. Rather than wait until the threat is at his door, Winterspring intends to prepare for it in full. This has sent him traveling through the territory for days on end, a tiring but necessary endeavor that he has entrusted to no one but himself. All noble families at the borders must be informed of possible threats, even if they are distant at this time. The kingdom cannot be allowed to think its rulers incompetent, uncaring, or under prepared. For the time being, Winterspring's base of operations is in the halls of Lady Dulce, the marchioness who presides over the land furthest from the royal keep in her father's absence, and would likely be the first to see signs of trouble. Were the times not so terse, he thinks he would enjoy the lady's presence, as her keen intellect and lively manner complement his soft-spoken, serious nature rather well. Truth be told, with some training, she might be an excellent candidate for his intelligence division, and he has resolved to discuss the matter with her at length once the dangers of the moment become a thing of the past.
