There is nothing I hate more than beasts, centaurs and serthis in particular can go rot in the wyrmwound where they belong for all I care. Most hatchlings face the world with starry eyes and loving parents looking down at them but not me, I faced the world under the judging eyes of the centaurs that kidnapped me from my nest. From the very beginning I fought them off with barely developed claws and teeth, but I was powerless as children always are and could do nothing to stop them from bringing me away from my homeland under the stars. The centaurs passed their problem imperial to the serthis of the wasteland, and as much as I hate them with all that they are they did teach me one thing; that the only thing you can rely on is your own strength and ability.

The centaurs were nothing compared to these snakes, child or not I was their slave that they were determined to discipline by any means necessary. But they couldn’t break me as much as they tried, and they were getting more and more tiny compared to me as I grew larger and stronger. Escaping from their prison was nothing for me as I reached adolescence, and that feeling of freedom at long last may be the happiest moment I have ever had in my life. But there is no time for joy in the wasteland, I learned to survive on my own by fighting off the many mirrors living there and stealing their prey. However, I noticed one day that someone else had beaten me to a fight against a nearby pack of them.

A ridgeback out here, and fighting against an entire pack of mirrors? The very idea of this was hilarious to me, so I sat back and decided to watch the show and see this dragon far out of his element die or gain victory. He noticed me however, and perhaps that gave him all the more incentive to finish this fight as fast as he could manage it, he surprised me then as he tore into these murderous dogs like it was nothing. He amused me enough for me to consider speaking with him, so after the pack ran in retreat I went to meet him, and he took a bow as though it had been only part of the show for him.

“I fight dragons like that off daily,” I told him with a snicker. “But I’ll admit that you put on a good show this time, and saved me the trouble of needing to ambush them myself.”
“I aim to please the audience whether I’m on stage or off of it,” the ridgeback replied with a grin. “Might I ask who you are though, sir? I’ve lived out here for quite some time, but I don’t believe we’ve met before.”
My amused smirk faded as I grew suspicious of him, “depends on why you’re asking.”
He was not in the least bit disturbed by me, if anything my suspicion only made him smile even more. “Well you may call me Walter! I’m the proud Ringmaster of the Shatterskull Circus, and I think we could use someone like you around.”
“I’m not interested in being a circus act,” I huffed and turned away about to head on my way when he spoke up again.
“I wouldn’t ask you for anything like that, but you seem to know the land so well that I think we could use someone with your ability and knowledge.”
I paused to think it over, and ultimately decided to turn to him again. “If you and your clowns are so lost out here, then I guess you would need someone like me to help you.” I smirked once more at my new employer, “call me Aries, lead the way Ringmaster.”
