______ Jayla did not always live as one of the Abyssal Cove. Despite her godhood, she was a sickly hatchling, and it seemed that her power and dominion over hidden treasures would not be enough to keep her alive. As such, her parents became overprotective, going to great lengths to keep her in their lair, far away from any dangers the ocean may hold. Her early years were lonesome, and she lived a sheltered life, far removed from others and spending her days imagining the other wonders the ocean was sure to hold.

______ However, goddesses are not meant to live confined, and before long Jayla grew restless. Late one evening, she stole away from home, diving deeper into the ocean in search for new treasures to find. Surviving on her own was difficult at first, and there were many days when she regretted leaving home and longed to go back to her (admittedly sheltered) life from before. But as the years passed, she learned to survive on her own, taking her proper place as the Goddess of Buried Treasure and overseeing sunken ships and treasures throughout the ocean.

______ Eventually, she tired of life on her own, and although she searched for her parents' lair, she was never able to find it again. Instead, she stumbled across the beginnings of the Abyssal Cove. Her and Erne got along right away, with the older goddess taking her under her wing and encouraging her desire to explore and find new treasures while also providing her with a home to return to. As the Abyssal Cove grew, Jayla continued to help Erne run the clan, eventually earning the title of 'Princess.' The two of them worked hard to ensure the clan's success, and although Jayla continues to make frequent trips to other part of the ocean to search for treasure, she always returns to the Abyssal Cove before long, glad to have a place to belong to.
