The reason the clan functions Organized - Serious - No excuses Fading came to the Burrow out of curiosity and stayed because it was going to implode if he didn't. The secret Clan Leader, Fading makes sure that supplies come in, new tunnels don't collapse and Goat is...off...over there. Out of the way. He respects his clan founders, (though mainly Aloe) and will check with them for any large decisions, but he takes the reins and keeps everyone happy. And that keeps him happy. He runs Physalia rather ragged with his delegation, but he knows she can handle it. Fading doesn't deal well with excuses and is well known for his lectures throughout the clan. Lately he's been talking to Veranyi about levitation and the Arcane magics leeched into the soil of the Burrow.... |

Fading ”Holy Arcanist, that's a horrible, terrible idea and we're all going to die...didn't you hear what I just -- STOP RIGHT THERE!" But this would all soon change. On a stormy night, a request for a mentor was sent from a new Arcane clan leagues away from the Observatory. Now, they probably had other mentors available for the job, but fortunately (or unfortunately,) Fading was the only one kind of, sort of, maybe awake (he was actually woken up with a bucket of cold water), and so he was sent to take the job. It's safe to say that the journey alone nearly drove Fading into retirement. It was rain season over the Starfall Isles, and no matter how many spells Fading used, he simply could not stop himself from being drenched. Miserable and somewhat annoyed, he managed to use magic to find the abode of Luna, a seer hidden in the Starwood Strand. Fading was not welcomed with open arms. If anything, Luna was rather irritated by the idea of a dragon intruding upon her threshold. Nevertheless, she still allowed his entrance and even offered him some food. Fading did his best to socialize with her, and by the time he departed from her lair, they were friends. The rest of the journey went relatively well, and by the time Fading arrived at the Burrow, the storm had broken, and the dragons there welcomed him warmly. He taught them the history of clans, and showed the two newfound leaders how to run the clan. He explained to the new Arcanites how to gather, and how to not get caught when collecting His first thought: They should be fine...I think... His second thought: Oh my Arcanist they're going to die without me. |
Fading had never before failed at teaching a clan of dragons how to run themselves. To be fair, it wasn't like the Burrow failed as whole -- it was simply that their clan leader and founder, Goat, seemed to find more interest in rowing lilypads then actually minding the clan. Efficiency was not a thing that existed, despite the efforts of Aloe, the other leader. After watching the clan for two more weeks, Fading decided then and there that he would stay, right here, for fear the Burrow blew itself up. With Aloe's assistance, Fading quickly began running the clan as a co-leader. He organised the dragons into groups based on their talents, allowing the clan to begin taking in food and other necessities. The healers are assembled, the hatchery built, and sometimes the magical experiments are actually completed! Under Fading's leadership, the Burrow began to finally flourish, allowing the clan to stabilise and Aloe to be relieved of her tiresome duties to watch over her ever-so-estranged mate. More dragons came to join the clan, and the clan as a whole grew both in prosperity and name. Once Fading was sure the clan wouldn't be run into the ground, he turned his attention to Diami, a Snapper child imbued with the Earthshaker's powerful magic. Luna, who later came to join the clan, predicted horrible futures should that magic be unleashed, and so Fading took it as his top priority to make sure Diami stayed happy and in control. He spoke to Haerian, who he deemed one of the wisest non-screwball members of the clan, and the mysterious Ridgeback shared with him vague, wispy details of Diami's past. After hearing the feedback from those who knew of Diami's hidden power, Fading decided that perhaps it would be the best to move Diami to a place where the magical seal that held back her power could be strengthened. Though arcane magic itself was a strong source of reinforcement for the seal, Fading feared that the instability of the magic would one day start breaking down the seal instead. So, with a close certain of clan members, it was decided that they would teleport the lair to a safer place. Things did not go as planned. |

The idea was that Luna would draw magic circles of transportation in the corners of the lair. After that, Fading and Veranyi would use a combination of magic and science to teleport the lair. Unfortunately, things went wrong on (surprisingly) Luna's end. She -- [the writing here has been blotted out by what looks like angry Fae scratches] -- not knowing the incident that had happened, Veranyi and Fading began their spell. It was a space-warping spell, with its accuracy sharpened by a few special ingredients which, unfortunately, required Luna's magic circles to work. Due to the incident's aftereffects, the magic of the ingredients were neutralised, and instead of warping to another land, the Burrow was warped into the air three feet aboveground. The first thing Fading found out after the Burrow became a floating island: there was no steering wheel. The newfound island floated, yes, but it could not move on its own, instead requiring a larger breed such as an Imperial to nudge it along. Though this was unexpected, Fading decided to take this change as a blessing and push the island to Dragonhome, where he hoped Diami's seal could take new roots. |
Growing up at the Observatory, Fading was involved in a spectacular disaster of a magical experiment that left him with the third eye on his forehead. This isn't a necessarily bad thing, as he can now simultaneously look in three directions without having to move his face. However, it does prove to hinder his ongoings, as he occasionally forgets it exists and smacks in forehead in frustration. Fading will not admit that he likes his clanmates. In fact, he's most often annoyed by their incompetence, especially that one time when Veranyi presented them with a pot of soup that turned out to be a chemistry brew because the Noc figured that everything that goes in a pot should probably be transmuted. Secretly, though, he's quite fond of his clanmates and cares for every single one of them, even the annoying ones. Fading is very sociable, able to easily get along with even the toughest and gloomiest of dragons. He is Luna's first friend, which is quite an accomplishment as she initially had no interest in interacting with other dragons. Being sociable is also one of the traits that allowed him to become a mentor, and some of the previous clans he'd helped still sends him care packages. As Luna's closest friend, Fading is the only other dragon who actually knows what happened on the day they planned to teleport the Burrow, even though it took some time for Luna to admit the truth. You see, when she was -- [The pages here have been burnt] |
